On January 13, the Department of Information and Communications of Tra Vinh province issued a warning stating that recently, in the province, many people have used mobile phone numbers to call leaders of agencies and authorities, impersonating people from the Department of Information and Communications and the Tra Vinh Provincial Police.
These people told local leaders that they were involved in or participated in some reactionary organizations, created social media accounts, opened personal accounts for money laundering or committed other serious violations of the law.
The Department of Information and Communications of Tra Vinh province has issued a warning about many scammers calling local leaders to commit fraud.
To defraud and appropriate property, these people threatened that the case had been decided to be punished or prosecuted by the Department of Information and Communications and the Tra Vinh Provincial Police in the next few days. The phone numbers used by the scammers to call the leaders of agencies, units and localities include: 0834955199, 0916449671, 0947596016, 0812341213.
Mr. Bui Thong Nhut, Deputy Director of Tra Vinh Department of Information and Communications, affirmed: "This is a form of phone call with the purpose of fraud. The Department of Information and Communications works with clear documents and letters of introduction sent directly. The Department does not direct the handling of administrative violations by calling individuals and organizations using personal mobile phone numbers."
Mr. Nhut recommends that organizations and individuals who receive calls claiming to be officials or leaders of state agencies absolutely must not follow them, must not provide personal information, and must not transfer money to strange accounts.
You need to report to the authorities by texting (free) the following syntax: V (Source of distribution) (Spam call content) to 5656. For example: text "V(0812341213) scam" to 5656 or call directly to the hotline number 156 to report spam calls or calls with signs of fraud.
Colonel Huynh Van Thinh, Deputy Director of Tra Vinh Provincial Police, also affirmed that the Provincial Police did not direct officers to handle violations via phone calls. Organizations and individuals who receive calls claiming to be police officers as mentioned above should promptly notify the nearest police agency for timely handling.
