Mbappe close to historic milestone at Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe had an impressive debut season for Real Madrid in terms of personal statistics.

Mbappe's name is on Real Madrid's history list. He became one of only two players to score more than 35 goals in his debut season with "Los Blancos".

At home at Bernabeu, the French striker scored a double in the 40th and 48th minutes, helping "Los Blancos" overcome their tough opponent Celta Vigo. The Spanish Royal team was under great pressure before this match, forced to get 3 points at home at Bernabeu to catch up with the leading team Barcelona.

In Real Madrid's history, only Ivan Zamorano and Mbappe are two players to have scored 35 or more goals in their first season with the Spanish capital club. Chilean football legend Zamorano scored 37 goals in his 1992/93 debut season with Real.

Although they suddenly slowed down at the end of the match, allowing Celta Vigo to score two goals to shorten the score, the concentration in the last 10 minutes of the match helped Real Madrid still maintain the overall victory.

The three points earned in this match helped Real Madrid narrow the gap with Barcelona to four points, and turn the El Clasico match between the two teams in round 35 of La Liga on May 11 into the "final" of the tournament.
