Long An Club players 'trick' referee on Quy Nhon field

Midfielder Kha Tan Tai used his hand to flick the ball away, fooling the referee and scoring an honorary goal for Long An Club in a 1-4 loss at Quy Nhon United's field.

On the evening of October 3, Quy Nhon United hosted Long An Club in round 3 of the 2025-2026 National First Division. The home team had a brilliant match day with the high performance of striker Le Thanh Phong.

Le Thanh Phong scored his first two goals against his former team Long An. In the 9th minute, he celebrated enthusiastically like Ninh Binh FC's Duc Chien did against The Cong - Viettel.

Quy Nhon Stadium could completely belong to the player born in 1996. Thanh Phong had the chance to score a hat-trick for himself but was unsuccessful in the rest of the match.

However, teammates Thaileon and Nguyen Ngoc Toan did the rest. Thaileon raised the score to 3-0 in the 71st minute and passed to Ngoc Toan to score the 4th goal for Quy Nhon United in the 83rd minute.

Most notable was Long An Club's equalizer 1-4 in the 84th minute. Striker Kha Tan Tai broke free, used his hand to flick the ball in front of the opposing goalkeeper, then scored and was recognized by the referee.

The Quy Nhon home team’s defense stood still waiting for the referee’s whistle, but it was a goal whistle. The national first division does not have VAR, so the referee cannot correct his mistake.

Referee Tran Manh Hung also did not have a good viewing angle when a Quy Nhon defender blocked Kha Tan Tai's hand movement. The goal was counted and did not change the outcome of the match.

Quy Nhon United FC has its first win and 4 points on the rankings. Long An FC has only 3 points and 1 win. The two teams are ranked 6th and 8th respectively.
