In the late 19th century, Ke Ga Island was considered an extremely dangerous location on the sea route from Phan Rang to Vung Tau. Many ships passing through this area often sank due to unknown coordinates and locations. To ensure the safety of French military transport ships as well as foreign merchant ships passing through here, in 1897 the French researched and built a large lighthouse on the island. In 1899, the lighthouse was completed and put into use in 1900. The entire tower was built of granite, 35m high, if including the height of the hill, that is, from sea level to the top of the tower is about 65m. What is special is that all the granite blocks used to build the lighthouse were carved and engraved into flat rectangular blocks.
Nearly 200 spiral stairs with no landing in the middle are an attractive challenge for visitors when coming here. Not everyone has enough endurance and patience to reach the top. However, when arriving, the visitors' efforts are rewarded. Looking down from the observation deck of the lighthouse, visitors can not only admire the whole view of Ke Ga Cape but also the whole view of Hon Ba. A vast space, the immense sea and sky appear before their eyes.
