The Argentine superstar's income at Inter Miami reached 20.45 million USD . This is the second consecutive year that Messi has held the leading position in MLS, affirming his strong appeal in the American football world.

This amount only reflects Messi's salary from playing for Inter Miami, not including other sources of income such as advertising contracts with Adidas and a revenue-sharing agreement with broadcasting partner Apple.

According to Sportico , Messi could earn a total of up to $150 million over the course of the two-and-a-half-year contract he signed with Inter Miami in the summer of 2023.

Second on the MLSPA list is Toronto FC's Lorenzo Insigne with $15.44 million in earnings. Next is Messi's Inter Miami teammate Sergio Busquets with $8.5 million .

The salary data from the MLSPA was released on May 25. The association typically releases salary information for its top players twice a year. Before Messi joined Inter Miami, Insigne was the highest-paid player in the league.

Inter Miami not only leads in player salaries, but also in total team earnings, coming in at $46.84 million . That’s $5 million more than the club’s previous record set last year. It’s also double what most other teams in the league make. Toronto FC comes in second with $34.15 million , followed by Atlanta United FC with $27.63 million .

The average salary for all current players is around $650,000 , up 9.22% from the same period in 2024. In total, there are 131 players with salaries of at least $1 million .
