Accordingly, 3 features will be removed in this new update from Microsoft: Computer Browser, Webclient Service and Remote Mailslots.
Computer browser
The Computer Browser driver and service have been disabled. This is an outdated and insecure device location protocol. This protocol, service, and driver were first disabled by default in Windows 10 when the SMB1 service (a protocol for file sharing) was removed.
Microsoft disables three more features in Windows operating system
Webclient Service (WebDAV)
In new updates of Windows operating system, Webclient Service (WebDAV) is no longer used by Microsoft. Webclient Service is not started by default in Windows.
Remote Mailslot
Remote Mailslot is disabled, not included in new Windows installations. The Remote Mailslot protocol is an outdated, unreliable, and insecure IPC method first introduced in MS DOS. It was first disabled by default in the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build.
Disabling a feature means that Microsoft is no longer developing that operating system feature. However, disabled or unsupported features and services may remain in Windows for some time before Microsoft removes them.
