Microsoft is about to increase the price of Xbox Series X
"We have held the price of the console steady for many years and are now adjusting the price to reflect competitive conditions in each market," Microsoft's head of gaming communications Kari Perez said in a statement to VGC.
Starting August 1, the Xbox Series X will cost £479.99 in the UK, €549.99 in most European markets, $649.99 in Canada, and $799.99 in Australia, The Verge reports.
For the Xbox Series S, the price of the device will not change in any market.
Starting July 6, the price of the Xbox Game Pass monthly subscription will increase from $9.99 to $10.99. At the same time, the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will also increase from $14.99 per month to $16.99. Meanwhile, the price of PC Game Pass will not change.
The price hike follows a similar move by Sony last August, when it raised PS5 prices by up to 12.5% in several countries.
