Compared to the previous peak consumption set at 22:30 on July 18, 2025 (18,931 MW and 389.39 million kWh), the capacity increased by 52.9 MW, equivalent to 0.28%, and the electricity output increased by 3.7 million kWh, equivalent to 0.95%. This is the second time in less than a month that this area has set a new record for electricity consumption, clearly reflecting the increase in electricity demand in the context of extreme weather.
Previously, in the first three days of August, the Northern power system (except Hanoi ) also recorded very high consumption. Specifically, on August 1, the maximum capacity reached 18,665 MW, output of 381.970 million kWh; on August 2, it reached 18,796 MW, output of 384.865 million kWh; on August 3, it reached 18,819.2 MW, output of 389.011 million kWh. On August 4, the capacity reached a new peak of 18,983.9 MW, output exceeding 393 million kWh.
Since the beginning of June, peak capacity in the Northern region (excluding Hanoi) has increased by nearly 900MW - from 18,084MW recorded on June 2 to 18,983.9MW on August 4. This is a huge increase in a short period of time, putting considerable pressure on the power system during the peak of the hot season.
EVNNPC said that the temperature in many areas of the North is still high, many places exceed 39 degrees Celsius. High humidity makes the weather even hotter and stuffier, especially in the evening - the time when the demand for cooling equipment such as air conditioners and electric fans increases sharply.
Faced with this situation, EVNNPC calls on agencies, businesses and people to join hands in saving electricity, especially during peak hours: noon from 13:00 to 15:00 and evening from 20:00 to 23:00. Some recommended electricity saving solutions include turning off unnecessary devices, avoiding using many high-capacity devices at the same time, prioritizing devices with energy-saving labels, adjusting air conditioners to 26-27 degrees Celsius combined with fans, monitoring electricity consumption via website cskh.npc.com.vn or EVNNPC CSKH application.
In addition, EVNNPC also encourages households and businesses to install rooftop solar power according to the self-production - self-consumption model to reduce pressure on the national power system.
EVNNPC emphasized that using electricity economically not only contributes to reducing living and production costs, but also protects the safety of the national power system, and joins hands to respond to natural disasters. climate change
