According to Indonesian news site detik.com, the new Mitsubishi Destinator 2025 has recorded more than 5,000 orders immediately after its global launch on July 17, 2025. This is an impressive number showing the great initial appeal of this all-new 7-seat SUV. Mitsubishi aims to sell 10,000 cars in Indonesia within 8 months, from August 2025 to March 2026, or about 1,250 cars per month. With 5,000 cars already pre-ordered, the company is considered to have gone halfway.
However, experts say the initial order boom is often easy to achieve, the real challenge will come after the heat passes and the market enters a stable phase. Not stopping at Indonesia, Destinator will soon expand to many other Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam. Domestic auto experts believe that if priced reasonably, this SUV model is completely capable of creating a breakthrough like its "senior" Xpander. Mitsubishi positions the Destinator as a true family SUV. The car has dimensions of 4,680 mm long, 1,840 mm wide, 1,780 mm high and a ground clearance of 244 mm.
Notably, the Destinator's 244 mm ground clearance is higher than many D-size SUVs on the market, helping the vehicle adapt well to road conditions in Southeast Asia, which often have potholes or rough roads. Mitsubishi also focuses on the interior with many entertainment and utility technologies: 64-color ambient lighting system, 8-speaker Yamaha sound system, electric front seats, hands-free trunk opening and panoramic sunroof. Destinator is equipped with a 1.5L MIVEC Turbo engine, producing 161 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, with a CVT gearbox. Using front-wheel drive, Destinator still inherits Mitsubishi's active 4-wheel control technology (All-Wheel Control - AWC).
The car is equipped with an advanced ADAS technology package. Outstanding features include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist and automatic high beams. In addition, the car also has a 360-degree camera, rear sensors and 6 airbags. In Indonesia, Mitsubishi distributes Destinator in 3 versions: GLS, Exceed and Ultimate, priced from 385 to 465 million Rupiah (equivalent to 617 - 745 million VND). With this price, the car is in the highly competitive mid-size SUV group, targeting family customers.
