At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Van Hung expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from Cambodia for the delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Sharing with Cambodia in the work of hosting the 32nd SEA Games, the Minister assessed that despite many difficulties, the host country is trying very hard to organize a successful Games in many aspects. Through the process of observing and grasping information, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that he was impressed by Cambodia's increased investment and upgrading of a series of sports facilities to serve the 32nd SEA Games. The Khmer people also showed their generosity and generosity by exempting all accommodation and food expenses for athletes. This has created good conditions for athletes to compete with peace of mind.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung proposed many cooperation activities in physical education and sports between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Regarding the cooperation in sports between Vietnam and Cambodia, Minister Nguyen Van Hung assessed that the cooperation activities have been effective and achieved many results. In particular, Vietnam and Cambodia actively support each other to improve professional qualifications through organizing training courses for coaches and athletes, especially in sports in which Vietnam and Cambodia have strengths. The two sides regularly exchange professional knowledge and compete to learn from each other's development experiences.
In recent times, Vietnam has supported Cambodia in training high-quality human resources. Accordingly, in April 2023, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism supported training costs for 34 Cambodian athletes (Vovinam and Athletics) in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare athletes to compete at the 32nd SEA Games. In addition, there are currently 13 Cambodian students (8 graduate students, 5 undergraduate students) studying and doing well at Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports. The Minister stated that Cambodian students studying at this school will be given the best conditions to study with peace of mind. At the same time, Vietnam is also ready to receive more Cambodian students to study in the field of physical education and sports.
Minister Hang Chuon Naron expressed his gratitude for Vietnam's support for Cambodia in developing physical education and sports.
Regarding the future cooperation orientation, Minister Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam pay great attention to the development of the sports sector; considering cooperation as one of the priorities for the strong development of Vietnamese sports. At the same time, the space for cooperation in physical education and sports between Vietnam and Cambodia is still very large. Therefore, the Minister suggested that every year, the leaders of the two ministries will continue to sit together to discuss cooperation activities; and share experiences in state management in the field of sports.
In addition, in addition to focusing on improving the quality and professional qualifications of coaches and athletes in many sports by increasing the organization of training courses and experience sharing seminars, the Minister hopes that the cooperation in physical education and sports between Vietnam and Cambodia needs to expand to related fields such as sports science and technology, sports economics , etc.

The Minister also stated: “The Communist Party of Vietnam and the Government of Vietnam are developing sports based on two main pillars: mass sports and high-performance sports. With high-performance sports, we are aiming to promote cooperation and improve the qualifications of coaches and athletes to improve achievements in major arenas. With mass sports, Vietnam always keeps in mind and implements the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh "Preserving democracy, building the country, creating a new life, everything needs health to be successful" to promote the movement of the entire population to exercise following the example of the great Uncle Ho; improve people's health, for the goal of a strong people and prosperous nation. I believe these are also the goals that the Cambodian Party and State are aiming for. With a common direction, certainly in the coming time, Vietnam and Cambodia will have more solutions to promote cooperation in physical education and sports."
Speaking at the meeting, Cambodian Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Hang Chuon Naron expressed his gratitude for Vietnam's support in helping Cambodia develop physical education and sports. Recently, Vietnam has shared with Cambodia its experience in organizing the SEA Games. Thanks to these valuable shares, Cambodia has been doing a good job in organizing the Games. The Cambodian minister also said that Minister Nguyen Van Hung's proposals to strengthen physical education and sports cooperation between the two sides will be very helpful in developing the Vietnam-Cambodia cooperative relationship.
The signing marks a new step forward in the Vietnam - Cambodia sports cooperation relationship.
Regarding the 32nd SEA Games, Minister Hang Chuon Naron said that the Games are not only an opportunity for athletes to demonstrate their mettle and step onto the podium of glory, but also an opportunity for Southeast Asian countries to demonstrate their spirit of solidarity for peace, for a future of mutual development in accordance with the spirit of the 32nd SEA Games : Sports Living in Peace . This is also a special occasion for Vietnam and Cambodia to promote bilateral cooperation in physical education and sports. At the meeting, the two sides agreed to sign the Agreement on cooperation in physical education and sports between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia. The Agreement clearly states that both sides strive to promote cooperation in the fields of physical education and sports on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. The Agreement encourages national sports federations, physical education and sports management agencies of provinces, cities, sectors and especially localities with common borders to increase bilateral physical education and sports exchange and cooperation activities; contributing to the development of sports cooperation between the two countries. The development of cooperation in the field of physical education and sports between the two countries is carried out in forms such as exchanging athletes and sports teams to participate in training before the Southeast Asian Games. At the same time, the two sides will increase the exchange of officials, coaches, referees, researchers and sports experts; invitations to attend seminars, conferences, training courses and other activities held in each country; exchange of programs and research results on sports science...

With the signing of the agreement, Minister Nguyen Van Hung hopes that both sides will have specific solutions to effectively implement the provisions of the agreement. During the implementation process, the two countries need to both work and learn from experience so that the cooperation in the next stages will be more effective than the previous stage. The Minister also believes that the recently signed agreement will open a new page in the cooperation in physical education and sports between the two countries to contribute to the common goal of peace, stability and development in the region.
