Heavy rain from yesterday to this morning has caused landslides and traffic jams on the Ho Chi Minh Highway West branch through Quang Tri province. Heavy rains in the southern mountainous area of ​​Quang Tri province have caused flooding of many bridges, partially isolating some villages; many landslides have made traffic difficult.

Many culverts and bridges in Dakrong, Ba Long and Ta Rut communes were flooded from 0.3 to 0.6 meters. At flooded locations, local authorities placed warning signs and assigned forces to be on duty to prevent people and vehicles from passing. On the West branch of Ho Chi Minh Highway, mud and rocks from landslides overflowed onto the road surface at 18 locations, with a total landslide volume of about 620 cubic meters, causing traffic jams.

A Ngo Road Management Department and Quang Tri Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company have mobilized vehicles and human resources to clear mud and repair damaged traffic routes. Currently, the unit has temporarily cleared the landslide locations.

It is forecasted that from October 17 to October 19, the area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 50-100mm, in some places very heavy rain over 250mm. There is a risk of heavy rain of 100mm in 3 hours.

Then, on the day and night of October 20, the area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 20-50mm, in some places very heavy rain over 100mm.

Due to the impact of this rain, water levels on rivers from Quang Tri to Hue city are rising, especially Bo river at Phu Oc above alert level 1.

The meteorological agency warns that from today until October 19, there is a possibility of a flood on rivers from Quang Tri to Hue city. The flood peak on rivers is likely to reach alert level 1 to alert level 2, some places above alert level 2. There is a high risk of flooding in low-lying areas along rivers, flash floods and landslides on slopes in provinces from Quang Tri to Hue city.
