Dong Thap: Urgent construction of works to overcome landslides on Tien River bank

On October 18, Mr. Tran Tri Quang, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee signed a decision to issue an emergency construction order for the project to overcome landslides on Tien River banks at Nguyen Huong Street (Tan Tich and Tinh Hung hamlets), Cao Lanh ward, Dong Thap province.

Accordingly, the construction area is about 520m long, including the embankment lock. Construction time is from the date of issuance of the order to December 31, 2026.

Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee assigned the Project Management Board of Construction Investment Area 1 to be the investor, and at the same time be responsible for organizing the preparation of construction procedure documents and organizing the selection of contractors with sufficient capacity to operate construction activities according to regulations.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment shall preside over and coordinate with the Project Management Board of Construction Investment Area 1 and relevant units to be responsible for the contractor's construction measures to ensure savings and efficiency; Coordinate with the Department of Finance and relevant units to advise and propose to the People's Committee of Dong Thap province on funding sources to overcome landslides and subsidence according to the provisions of the law on public investment, the law on state budget and relevant legal provisions.

Request the People's Committee of Cao Lanh Ward to preside over and continue to send forces on duty (24/24 hours) to closely monitor the landslide situation, promptly report emergency situations, organize traffic regulation to ensure safety and smooth traffic; strictly prohibit vehicles and people from passing through the landslide area, proactively organize activities to ensure the "four on-site" motto; absolutely ensure safety of life, minimize damage to people's property.

Recently, the situation of landslides along Tien River has been complicated, seriously affecting the lives of hundreds of households in the area. Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang has announced an emergency situation of landslides in the area of ​​​​the embankment to prevent bank erosion in Thuong Phuoc commune and Nguyen Huong street (Cao Lanh ward) to urgently deploy response measures to ensure safety for people.
