There has never been a year when African swine fever broke out as widely and lasted as this year. In Quang Ngai province, from July 1, 2025 to September 2025, African swine fever occurred in the pig herds of nearly 11,000 households in 61 communes, wards and special zones. More than 80,000 infected pigs had to be destroyed, causing huge economic losses to farmers.
Up to this point, the epidemic has been basically controlled, with no new outbreaks. This is the right time for Quang Ngai people to focus on restocking livestock, in time to supply food for the end of the year. However, after the epidemic, farmers are facing difficulties in finding breeding animals and are worried that the epidemic will return.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province has instructed localities to resolutely and synchronously implement solutions for epidemic prevention and post-epidemic herd restoration. The authorities recommend that when re-herding, breeders should choose breeds with clear origins, provided by reputable suppliers, and with quarantine certificates.
