In the 2024 high school graduation exam, the whole country had 485 failed exams (equal to or below 1.0 point).
According to statistics from Tuyensinh247, the English subject had the most failing scores: 133, followed by Geography with 75 failing scores, Math: 62, Literature: 59, Biology 49, Physics: 48, CivicEducation 23, History: 19, Chemistry: 17.
Hanoi has the most candidates with failing scores in the 2024 high school graduation exam
According to statistics, surprisingly, Hanoi has the highest number of failing scores (46 failing scores in all subjects). Other localities also have high numbers of failing scores, namely Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Thai Binh, Dak Lak, Da Nang, Thai Nguyen, Hai Duong , and Ha Giang.
Tien Giang, Vinh Long and Tuyen Quang are localities with no failing scores.
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the failing score of the high school graduation exam is the minimum score prescribed for the exams and component subjects of the combined exam registered for graduation. If a candidate has a score equal to or lower than the limit score, it is considered a failing score.
The failing score in the 2024 high school graduation exam is 1.0 point on a 10-point scale.
If just one subject in the natural science group (or social science) gets a score of 1 or lower, equal to 1, or 1 of the 3 compulsory subjects (Math, Literature, Foreign Language) gets a score of 1 or lower, equal to 1, then the candidate is not eligible to graduate from high school this year.
This means that candidates cannot use the results of the subject combination with a failing score to apply for university or college admission.
According to data from the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2024, 1,067,391 candidates nationwide registered to take the exam on the system (1,024,063 in 2023). The number of independent candidates registering to take the exam is 45,344 (37,841 in 2023). Of these, 37% of candidates registered to take the Natural Science exam (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and 63% of candidates chose the Social Science exam (History, Geography, Civic Education). Compared to the previous year, the number of candidates choosing the Social Science exam increased by 7.7%.
The provinces and cities with the highest number of candidates registering for the exam include: Hanoi: 109,078 candidates. Ho Chi Minh City: 88,196 candidates; Thanh Hoa: 38,677 candidates.
The provinces with the fewest number of candidates registered for the exam include: Kon Tum: 5,052 candidates; Lai Chau: 4,211 candidates; Bac Kan: 3,180 candidates.
