On January 25, the working delegation led by Chairman of the National Assembly Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh had a working session with the People's Committees of Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong provinces regarding the contents of the investment project proposal for the construction of the North-South expressway in the west, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh ( Binh Phuoc ) section. The Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway project is proposed to prepare for investment from 2023, implement the project in 2024, and strive to complete the project in 2026.

At the meeting, Chairman of Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee Tran Tue Hien said that the provincial leaders consider the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway project a key project. If the implementation is delayed, it will certainly hinder the economic development of the locality for many years to come. Ms. Hien hopes that the Government, the National Assembly, ministries, branches and members of the working group will pay attention, support and create conditions for the project to be approved.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the National Assembly Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh said that the Government had previously submitted to the National Assembly a pre-feasibility study report on the investment project to build the North-South Expressway in the west, Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh section. However, in order for the project to be approved by the National Assembly, in addition to reporting to the competent authority in accordance with working regulations, it is necessary to conduct a survey of the processes and procedures of the Public Investment Law.

Chairman of the National Assembly Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh noted that in order for the project to be approved with high support from the National Assembly, in addition to the support and attention of central ministries and branches, the two localities of Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong, and design consulting units also need to supplement and complete the dossier to ensure it is tight, feasible, and highly convincing.
The Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway project is 128.8 km long. Of which, the section through Dak Nong province is 27.8 km long, the section through Binh Phuoc province is 99 km long and the 2 km connecting section from the Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh Expressway interchange to the Ho Chi Minh Road section from Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa.
The project is invested in phase 1 with a scale of 4 lanes, a roadbed width of 24.75 m, a design speed of 100-120 km/h; land clearance at one time according to the planned scale of 6 expressway lanes. Particularly, the section through Dong Xoai city has a roadbed width of 25.5 m; the connecting section from the Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh expressway intersection to Ho Chi Minh road, Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section (about 2 km) is invested according to the scale of a grade III road, with a roadbed width of 12 m.
The project is invested in the form of public investment combined with the public-private partnership (PPP) method with a total investment of about 25,540 billion VND. Of which: state budget capital is 12,770 billion VND, capital arranged by PPP investors is 12,770 billion VND. The Government proposes to divide the project into 5 component projects, including 1 component project invested in the PPP method and 4 public investment component projects.
