According to the report "The Connected Consumer Q4/2024" published by Decision Lab, Zalo continues to lead messaging platforms in Vietnam in terms of usage rate and popularity.
In the "Messaging Platform" category, Zalo leads with a usage rate of 80%, followed by Facebook with 64% and Messenger with 51%. In addition, the ranking also includes other platforms such as TikTok (18%), Viber (7%), WhatsApp (4%).
The large difference in usage rates between Zalo and the above famous international messaging platforms shows that domestic users prefer the "Make in Vietnam" messaging platform.
In terms of popularity, Zalo is also leading the platforms with a rate of 54%. far surpassing Messenger and Facebook.
Zalo continues to consolidate its position as the most favorite platform among all three user generation groups including Gen X, Gen Y and Gen Z. In Gen X group (those born between 1965 and 1980), 68% of those surveyed prefer to use Zalo for daily messaging.

Similar to Gen X, the rate of Zalo usage among Gen Y (born between 1980 and 1995) is 55%. For the young generation of Gen Z, this rate is also high, at 37%.
According to Zalo representative, this is the 17th consecutive quarter that Zalo has achieved the favorite platform ranking in all 3 user generation groups since 2020. 2020 is also the year that marks Zalo officially surpassing Facebook and Messenger to become the number one messaging app in Vietnam.
The newly announced consolidated financial report for 2024 also shows that the Zalo messaging platform has 77.7 million monthly active users (MAU) and nearly 2 billion messages sent every day.
