Mourinho takes the Club World Cup title lightly. |
Chelsea caused a surprise when they defeated PSG 3-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup final on July 14. However, coach Mourinho compared the matches at the Club World Cup to no different from friendly matches in the US.
"This year's Club World Cup also featured a young talent who had a great season at Chelsea, Cole Palmer," Mourinho shared in an interview with Canal 11. "But the journey to the semi-finals reminded me of every time I went to the United States to prepare for the new season with Real Madrid and Inter. It was like the friendly matches we played there."
"I think the Club World Cup is only important for Chelsea, because they will sell a lot of shirts with the logo on it. PSG are the biggest winners this season. They won the Champions League and the way they did it, especially after losing their best player. PSG are the best team of the season," Mourinho concluded.
The 2025 Club World Cup™ is a precursor to the United States co-hosting the World Cup next summer. FIFA estimates that 6.5 million fans will attend the tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States. The 2026 World Cup will feature 48 teams competing in 16 different cities.
