MU was right with Sesko

Benjamin Sesko is not an immediate saviour for United’s attack, but he is the foundation for a new direction under Ruben Amorim. Fans need to adjust their expectations – and learn to be patient.

Manchester United have spent years struggling to find a true striker - someone who can become a reliable stopper in the attack, a fulcrum for the team to revive after a decade of ups and downs. The appearance of Benjamin Sesko is therefore not simply a new contract, but also a clear statement from coach Ruben Amorim: MU will build the future around a new generation, and the Slovenian striker is one of the key pieces.

But along with that expectation comes an equally thorny question: how much faith should United fans place in Sesko - and more importantly, how much patience should they have?

Sesko is not a miracle, but an opportunity

If anyone expects Sesko to have an immediate impact like Erling Haaland did at Man City, they should adjust their expectations. Sesko is only 22 years old, coming from a tactical environment like the Bundesliga, but has no experience of the Premier League - a league known for being harsh on young strikers.

Still, Sesko’s performances for RB Leipzig last season were cause for optimism: 14 goals in just 17 Bundesliga starts, with an average of a goal every 108 minutes – the best in the league among those scoring 10 or more goals. That’s a figure that can’t be achieved by just getting lucky in a few moments. Sesko showed he has pace, smart positioning, decisiveness when shooting – and a coolness beyond his years.

At the moment, MU's attack is in a period of strong restructuring. Marcus Rashford has left the club to Barcelona on loan, and Alejandro Garnacho - despite being a hero - is not in Ruben Amorim's plans. That means the faces that were once the hope of Old Trafford are gradually stepping back, making way for a new generation of players.

Rasmus Højlund is still a name with potential, but his first few seasons have been inconsistent - sometimes explosive, sometimes lackluster. Sesko is not only a competitor for a position, but also a parallel option for an attack that needs more sharpness, variety and stability.

Ruben Amorim needs a striker who fits MU's style of play.

Most importantly: Ruben Amorim needs a striker who can play in a clear structure, work in the pressing block and move tactically. Sesko, who grew up in the RB Salzburg - Leipzig system, understands how modern football works. He is not a classic “box killer”, but a modern striker: able to coordinate, create depth and press at high intensity.

Expect enough - and patience is required

MU fans are tired of the short-lived blockbusters, from Sancho to Antony, from Weghorst to Martial. But because of that, don’t let the past distort your assessment of the present. Sesko didn’t come as a savior. He came to develop – with a young team, with a coach who values discipline and progress in small steps.

United need a year of patience. It may be that Sesko only comes off the bench for the first six months. He may miss opportunities that fans regret. But it is a natural development process - not one that should be distorted by haste. Haaland was a substitute at Dortmund, Nunez was ridiculed at Liverpool, even Harry Kane was loaned out for years before exploding.

Success is not magic. It is the product of a clear plan, the right environment, and enough time.

Sesko is not the final solution, but it is a step in the right direction for MU.

Ruben Amorim is not the type of coach who favors expensive, directionless stars. What he needs are players who can thrive in a philosophy of proactive pressing, fast ball movement and space control. In that style, a striker like Sesko may not need to touch the ball much, but he must know how to apply pressure and stretch the opposition defense.

So, the deal to sign Sesko was not just a board decision, but also a reflection of Amorim’s clear footballing mindset. No Rashford, no Garnacho – he is rebuilding the attack from scratch. And to rebuild, he chose a young player, who can be molded, who can stick with him for the long term.

Sesko isn't the end all be all, but he's a step in the right direction. He's not here to take over immediately, but to integrate, learn, and gradually become a pillar.

Manchester United fans should have expectations - but reasonable expectations: a striker who fits their style of play, has a foundation for development and comes with a willingness to learn. The only thing they need - is not to lose faith too soon.

Given enough time, Sesko could be more than just a striker, but also a new symbol of Manchester United's rebirth.
