The 22-year-old striker has emerged as Ruben Amorim's top target after scoring 12 goals in the Premier League this season.

Chelsea are also interested in Liam Delap - who has a £30m release clause in his contract following Ipswich's relegation.

However, Delap himself seems to want to move to Old Trafford with positive direct negotiations with the Red Devils' leadership.

The Athletic confirmed that Ipswich had given Liam Delap permission to travel to Manchester after the match at Leicester last weekend.

That creates an opportunity for MU to convince and draw up a detailed plan to invite Delap to join the Old Trafford team.

However, the Manchester team has not made an official offer for Delap, because they are focusing on the Europa League final.

United are also looking to bolster their attack by signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

The deal is close to completion as the Brazilian striker has agreed personal terms. The Red Devils are expected to spend £62.5m to terminate Cunha's contract with the Molineux outfit.
