Due to the impact of heavy thunderstorms in the airport area, reduced visibility, Noi Bai International Airport has coordinated with the air traffic management agency to adjust the form of operation and management.
Speaking with the Government Electronic Newspaper, a representative of Noi Bai International Airport said that due to the impact of heavy thunderstorms in the airport area and reduced visibility, the unit has coordinated with the air traffic management agency to adjust the operation method to ensure absolute safety for take-off and landing activities.
"In dangerous weather conditions, some flights may be affected. Passengers should follow information from airlines to proactively plan their journeys safely and conveniently," added a representative of Noi Bai airport.
Many flights had to be adjusted
Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines recommends that passengers proactively check weather and traffic conditions and arrange reasonable time to arrive at the airport on time for check-in procedures.
The airline said passengers should arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before departure for domestic flights, and 3 hours for international flights to ensure smooth check-in procedures. At the same time, regularly check the information screens at the airport for updates on any changes to the departure gate.
Similarly, a Vietjet representative said that due to the impact of heavy rain in the Hanoi area on October 7, passengers planning to fly today should proactively plan their travel so they can arrive at the airport on time. In addition, the airline warned that some Vietjet flights to and from Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) may have to adjust their flight schedules to wait for better weather.
"During bad weather, the airline hopes to receive sympathy from passengers because this is a force majeure situation, causing large costs for the airline, wasting money... However, passenger safety is always the airline's top priority," a Vietjet representative affirmed.
Bamboo Airways representatives also advised passengers to travel earlier than usual to avoid congestion and delays. The airline added that to ensure safety, Noi Bai Airport will temporarily limit the number of flights to a maximum of 10 flights per hour until about 11 a.m. today (October 7). Airplanes must line up to wait for safe take-off and landing conditions, so the flight schedules of airlines, including Bamboo Airways, may be affected.
