When summer knocks on the door
I met Huy Tan, a neighbor boy who is now in fifth grade, when he and his friends were playing soccer in the middle of the field of the Khmer Art Troupe of Soc Trang province. The boy was very passionate about playing with the round ball, sweat was pouring down his forehead, his eyes were shining with excited cheers. Huy Tan smiled: “We are competing. Whoever kicks the ball the most wins!”

When summer comes, children like Tan seem to be able to live their most innocent childhood. No more pressure from schoolwork, no more intense extra classes. Instead, there are matches with the crisp laughter of the children here played every afternoon full of excitement.
Ms. Danh Sony, Ward 3, Soc Trang City shared: “Every summer, the children organize all kinds of games from soccer, can throwing to marbles. Each child has a task, some are referees, some are athletes. They are very close to each other.”
After 9 months of studying, students always look forward to summer vacation. During this time, they temporarily put aside their books to enjoy days of playing, experiencing and developing their skills. In addition to the familiar Red Flamboyant Festival, in Soc Trang city, there are many useful activities, playgrounds, and sports talent classes that attract more and more children to participate. Activities at the Soc Trang City Culture - Sports - Broadcasting Center, the Provincial Children's House and many football fields and swimming pools in the area have become ideal destinations for children during the summer.
At Tan Huy football field (Soc Trang city), the training atmosphere is always lively, filled with laughter and calls from children. The "young" players in colorful uniforms are not only instructed in practicing basic football skills but also nurtured in the spirit of solidarity, fair play and knowing how to share and support teammates. Nguyen Minh Quan, living in Ward 5, Soc Trang city, happily shared: "I really like playing football. During the summer vacation, I asked my parents to let me join a football class to improve my health, have fun and make new friends."
Diverse playground
Summer playgrounds not only help children practice physical fitness and develop their talents, but also provide a useful environment for them to interact, learn and grow through each activity. This is also a practical way to make summer vacation more meaningful and complete for children.

Ms. Vo Thi My Linh, a parent whose daughter is taking a martial arts class at the Soc Trang Provincial Children's House, excitedly shared: "I am very happy that in the summer, the relevant departments have paid attention to organizing many useful activities, creating conditions for children to have a healthy playground and the opportunity to practice skills. Every day, seeing my daughter happily and eagerly preparing to wear her martial arts uniform to school, I feel very happy. Thanks to participating in classes like this, my child has a more positive playing environment, away from phones, tablets or televisions, and can exercise and interact with friends of the same age."
Realizing the practical need to create healthy and safe playgrounds for children during the summer, many localities and units have proactively implemented exciting and diverse summer activities to meet the increasing needs of children and parents. Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem Phuong - Director of Soc Trang Provincial Children's House said: "This summer, the Provincial Children's House has organized diverse cultural, artistic and sports talent classes such as: drawing, dancing, singing, drums - trumpets, organ, piano, guitar, Khmer folk dance, dance kids, swimming, Taekwondo martial arts, Vovinam, pickleball... Every evening, it attracts 300 - 500 children to participate in activities, play and practice at clubs, teams and groups. Maintaining and developing talent classes for children during the summer not only helps children to freely play and study in a healthy environment, but also contributes to discovering and nurturing new talents for the province. This has truly become a beautiful highlight in the work of caring for the young generation of Soc Trang, contributing to making their summer vacation more meaningful, useful and safe than ever".
It can be said that the useful playgrounds at cultural, sports, radio, children's houses, or soccer and basketball fields in Soc Trang city have been contributing to creating a truly meaningful summer, filled with laughter, where children can freely develop their talents, train themselves and have memorable memories of their childhood.
