Heavy rain continues, floods continue to rise in Khanh Hoa - Dak Lak

Heavy rain from the night of November 19 to the morning of November 20 continued to cause major floods in many provinces in the South Central and Central Highlands regions. The heavy rainfall was concentrated in Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak.

According to data from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the rainfall from 7 p.m. on November 19 to the early morning of November 20 in the eastern part of Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces was still very high, with many places exceeding 150mm in a short period of time. Hoa Son Lake Station (Khanh Hoa) recorded 324.2mm, Hoa Hiep Trung (Dak Lak) 184.8mm, and Da Den Lake (Khanh Hoa) 168.4mm.

At the same time, Da Nang City and the East of Quang Ngai Province had moderate to very heavy rain. According to meteorological experts, some areas in Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak had nearly 400mm of rain in one night, bad weather.

Continuous heavy rains cause flood water levels on rivers in the South Central region to continue rising.

In Dak Lak, the Ba River may peak on the morning of November 20 and exceed the historical flood level at Cung Son station by about 1.4m and at Phu Lam station by about 0.49m. Floods on the Krong Ana River continue to rise but are still below alert level 3.

In Khanh Hoa , the Dinh - Ninh Hoa River may exceed the 1986 flood peak by 0.12 to 0.42 m and the flood peak may reach 6.7-7 m. Floods on the Cai Nha Trang River and Cai Phan Rang River continue to be higher than alert level 3 by 1.2 to 3.8 m at many hydrological stations.

In Lam Dong, floods on the Da Nhim and Cam Ly rivers increased rapidly during the night of November 19. On November 20, the water level at Dai Ninh station could be about 1.7m higher than alert level 3 (0.25m lower than the historical peak). At Thanh Binh station, floods could be about 1m higher than alert level 3.

According to satellite data, rain in the border area of ​​Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak continues to last, causing floods to remain high and recede slowly.

The meteorological agency forecasts that from the morning of November 20 to the night of November 21, the areas of Da Nang, the East of Quang Ngai province and the North of Lam Dong will continue to have rain of 50-100mm, locally over 150mm. The East of Gia Lai province and the South of Khanh Hoa province will have rain of 70-150mm, locally over 200mm.

The heaviest rain is still in the East of Dak Lak province and the North of Khanh Hoa province with the amount of 150-250mm, in some places over 450mm. According to satellite image data, this morning, thunderstorms are still developing continuously at sea and tend to move inland.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned that during the day and night of November 22, the Da Nang area, the East of Quang Ngai province to Dak Lak and the North of Khanh Hoa will continue to have rain of 40-70mm, locally over 150mm. From November 24, heavy rain in the Central region will tend to decrease rapidly.
