Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper gives gifts to support students in the "flood center" area in Da Nang

On November 21, in Thuong Duc commune (Da Nang city), Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper (SGGP) in collaboration with SMBC Vietnam Prosperity Bank Finance Company Limited (FE CREDIT) and local authorities organized the program "Lighting up the faith - Overcoming difficulties to go to school", to support students who overcome difficulties to study well and are affected by natural disasters.

At the program, the Organizing Committee presented teaching equipment to Dai Lanh Primary School; learning tools and textbooks to 175 students from the following schools: Dai Lanh Primary School, Truong Dinh Nam Primary School and Dai Son Primary & Secondary School (each worth 500,000 VND).

Speaking at the program, journalist Nguyen Hung, Head of SGGP Newspaper's Representative Office in the Central region, said that over 50 years of establishment and development, in addition to the task of information and propaganda, SGGP Newspaper always considers accompanying education and supporting children in difficult circumstances as the responsibility and sentiment of the collective of journalists.

On behalf of the local government, Mr. Nguyen Huu Lan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Duc Commune, said that the locality is located in the downstream of Vu Gia River, so in the recent natural disasters, Thuong Duc Commune has become the "flood center" of Da Nang City. Many areas in the commune were heavily flooded, causing damage of more than 130 billion VND; people's lives faced many difficulties, and students' education was still lacking.
