As reported by SGGP Newspaper, at 12 noon on November 17, on National Highway 15, the tractor trailer 75H - 007xx driven by NVT, born in 1977 and residing in Quang Tri, was traveling from La Lay International Border Gate towards Quang Tri. When reaching the spillway area of ​​A Rong Tren village, the driver arbitrarily bypassed the warning barrier and entered the middle of the spillway while the floodwaters were flowing rapidly, with water levels of about 50 - 60cm.

The car moved to the middle of the spillway, the strong current swept the cabin under the bridge, the body of the car was still on the bridge surface. The driver managed to climb up and stand on the body of the car to wait for rescue.

The La Lay International Border Guard Station coordinated with local authorities and other forces to deploy a rescue plan. However, at around 12:25 pm, the truck suddenly overturned and drifted about 10 meters away from the spillway, taking the driver with it.
