From early morning on November 22, more than 10 members of the Hue Rice ATM volunteer group quietly set off, heading towards Tuy Hoa ward ( Dak Lak province), where hundreds of households are isolated by the flood. They brought pots, gas stoves, food and specialized tools to set up a zero-dong kitchen, cook rice and then coordinate with the functional forces to approach each deeply flooded area. This model was effectively deployed by the group during the series of floods from October 27 to November 3 in Hue city, so as soon as they knew they were entering the flood area of the South Central region, people immediately sent their support.
Nguyen Dang Hau, head of the Hue Rice ATM group, said the group had received 30 tons of food donated by people who had been supported during the floods in Hue. “Those who went to Dak Lak are familiar with providing relief to isolated areas. The remaining people will continue to organize supplies or prepare for the post-flood reconstruction phase,” Hau said.
That spirit spread very quickly to Giap Dong residential group (Kim Tra ward, Hue city) - a place located along the Bo river and once submerged in the historic flood. Less than a day after the call of Mr. Duong Vinh Thanh, Head of the Residential Group Front Work Committee, people contributed more than 5 tons of rice, 600 boxes of instant noodles, candy, drinks, clothes... to send to the South Central region.
“During four consecutive floods, 411 households were flooded 1-1.5 meters deep. Difficulties abounded, but thinking of the people there who were hungry and cold, everyone felt the need to give up what they had, in the spirit of helping others,” Mr. Thanh confided.
Many localities in Hue City are also joining forces. Hoa Chau Ward, the place with the deepest and longest flooding in the recent flood, received more than 5 tons of rice, 2,200 boxes of instant noodles, many necessities and more than 300 million VND after only two days of launching the campaign. Secretary of Hoa Chau Ward Party Committee, Mr. Tran Ngoc Duong acknowledged: "The gifts collected by people in the flood-prone area of Hue at this time are not just material things; they are the warm humanity of people who understand how valuable sharing is in times of trouble."
The atmosphere of sharing is also bustling in Da Nang . From early morning, at the gathering points, motorbikes and trucks continuously brought boxes of water, instant noodles, banh chung, life jackets, medicine, bandages, and essential items. Mr. Dao Ngoc Ha, a member of the SOS Da Nang group, said that the group had received more than 1 ton of rice, 800 boxes of noodles, and more than 100 boxes of milk. "Each box of noodles sent is like a message: Please try a little harder, we are coming," said Mr. Ha.

Ms. Trinh Thi Ngoc Huyen (Hai Chau ward) said with emotion: “Looking at the people of the South Central region fleeing the flood, I remember the flood in Da Nang at the end of October. When times were tough, a box of instant noodles or a bottle of water was as precious as gold. Now that I am still standing in a dry place, I will contribute as much as I can.”
The solidarity also spread to Quang Ngai. On November 22, in the mountainous commune of Tra Bong, more than 50 people gathered to wrap banh chung and banh tet. The scent of dong leaves and fragrant sticky rice filled the large house, everyone's hands moving quickly amid warm laughter. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha Tien said: "From morning to afternoon, we have wrapped about 1,200 cakes. Tonight we will cook with firewood all night, and on the morning of November 23, we will leave for Dak Lak."
At the same time, at many receiving points in Quang Ngai province, relief goods continued to pour in. On the afternoon of November 22, the volunteer group 76 Binh Son and Quang Ngai departed for Dak Lak with nearly 20 tons of goods including instant noodles, drinking water, dry food, milk, clothes, blankets, warm clothes, medicine, medical supplies, flashlights, batteries, spare chargers, candles... "All are essentials for people to survive in the heavy rain, roads were cut off for many days", said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, a member of the group.
Amidst the endless days of rain and floods, the flow of people heading to the disaster areas is still quiet and persistent. From Hue, Da Nang to Quang Ngai, convoys of vehicles, pots of banh chung, bags of rice… carrying the warmth of love are still extending to the people in the flood areas.
