The flood caused the banks of the Ta Trach River in Khe Tre Commune, Hue City to deform, sweeping away and causing landslides in many houses.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Khuyen and her husband, Mr. Nguyen Van Luong (residing in Xuan Phu village, Khe Tre commune) together received 10 million VND in support that SGGP reporter handed to them.

Mr. Luong said absentmindedly that on the night of October 27 and early morning of October 28, the flood from Bach Ma peak poured down the Thac Truot stream (a branch of the Ta Trach river). After swallowing up the family's orange garden near the riverbank, it tore apart and swept away the family's solid 4-room house. The fierce flood continued to attack, tearing apart the house of Mr. Tran Van Vien's family located next to my house; causing landslides and seriously damaging 2 houses of Mrs. Tran Thi Bay's family (blind) and Mr. Phan Van Quy's family (whose wife is mentally ill) nearby.

“Fortunately, since the afternoon of October 27, all families in the hamlet have been evacuated by the local authorities to avoid the flood, otherwise who knows what would have happened!”, Mr. Luong said and thanked SGGP Newspaper and readers for promptly helping his family and neighbors in the hamlet during this difficult time.

Receiving the support money, Mr. Tran Van Vien (born in 1952, residing in Phu Xuan village, Khe Tre commune) said that he had never witnessed such a terrible flood. The flood from upstream poured in, carrying with it rocks and soil, flowing noisily, no different from a tsunami.

“All the houses in the village were destroyed or severely damaged by the flood. Meanwhile, the people in the village are old, sick, epileptic, and some have small children. Each family has their own situation but will soon have the same path: leaving the village so that they can live peacefully during the upcoming floods,” said Mr. Vien.

SGGP Newspaper reporter presented money from HCM IT Golf Club to support people whose houses collapsed and were severely damaged by floods in Khe Tre commune, Hue city.

Along the two banks of the Ta Trach River flowing through Khe Tre Commune, new deep holes were seen everywhere. The riverbanks were gouged 20-30m deep, in some places reaching into people's yards. Many points on Provincial Road 14B connecting to the center of Hue City were eroded, rocks and soil were scattered causing traffic jams, and inter-village and inter-commune roads were severely damaged. Heavy rains caused mud, gravel, and rocks to fill up the Khe Tre stream, changing the direction of the water, causing more landslides in many locations.

SGGP reporters continued to visit and present 4 gifts to support 4 families whose houses collapsed and were severely damaged by floods in some hamlets in Khe Tre commune.

The banks of Ta Trach River were eroded by the flood to a depth of 20-30m, in some places even into people's yards.

Representing the households receiving relief gifts, Mr. Lai Quoc Trinh, Head of the Culture Department of Khe Tre commune, thanked SGGP Newspaper and readers for their timely help. At the same time, he said that Khe Tre is a semi-mountainous area, which in recent years has continuously suffered from extreme rains, flash floods, landslides, causing great damage to agriculture , irrigation and tourism, greatly affecting the main source of livelihood of the people.

“In addition to the households whose houses collapsed and were severely damaged that SGGP Newspaper promptly supported today, there are currently nearly 60 other households in the area located in areas at risk of landslides, riverbanks, and steep slopes, and need to be relocated. Currently, the local authorities are reviewing to invest in building more resettlement areas as soon as possible to resettle the above households,” said Mr. Lai Quoc Trinh.
