On the evening of October 30, in Hanoi, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front coordinated with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television to organize the 5th National Press Award for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity, 2024-2025. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh quoted President Ho Chi Minh 's advice that "corruption, waste and bureaucracy are enemies of the people", "internal invaders". Since then, the Party and State have focused on directing resolutely, synchronously and strictly in the uncompromising fight against corruption, waste and negativity, with the motto "no forbidden zones, no exceptions".
The Prime Minister affirmed that in the above struggle, there are active contributions from the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, press agencies and the team, Vietnamese revolutionary journalists are always the vanguard force on the front line of the fight against corruption, waste and negativity.

The Prime Minister also said that behind each article and each investigative report is the unceasing creativity, the spirit of dedication, the courage, intelligence and courageous commitment of journalists to shine the light of justice and truth, contributing to helping authorities investigate and handle many serious cases of corruption, waste and negativity.
Through monitoring, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the works participating in this year's contest are all highly topical, recording issues arising from reality, reflecting the truth, naming and directly condemning individuals and groups with negative manifestations.

In addition, many works reflect good people, good deeds, and bravery in fighting corruption, waste, and negativity, and have a high impact; many works clearly demonstrate the supervisory and critical role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, and the active participation of the people in preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity.
The Prime Minister emphasized that in the new era, the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity continues to be identified by our Party and State as a key task that is both urgent and long-term.

The Prime Minister suggested continuing to strongly promote the key role of the press, building a team of journalists who are steadfast and do not retreat in the face of difficulties and challenges; alert in the face of temptations, steadfast and persistent in political will, dedicated and sharp in expertise, humane in practice, and resolutely and courageously fight uncompromisingly against corruption, waste, and negativity with the spirit of "steel in the pen, fire in the heart".

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations to continue to perform well the tasks of social supervision and criticism, further promoting the role and strength of the people in detecting and fighting against manifestations and acts of corruption, waste and negativity. At the same time, Party committees and authorities at all levels should create all favorable conditions and accompany and protect the press and journalists in the fight against manifestations and acts of corruption, waste and negativity.

The 5th National Press Award for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity, 2024-2025, aims to honor outstanding press works on the topic of anti-corruption, wastefulness, and negativity. From there, encourage and motivate journalists nationwide, continue to strongly promote the role of the press in detecting, fighting, and condemning acts of corruption, wastefulness, and negativity.
After 2 years of implementation, the Organizing Committee has received 1,110 press works submitted in 4 categories: print, electronic, radio, television from 90 press agencies at the central and local levels. The Final Council has reviewed and unanimously selected 44 best works to award 4 A prizes; 10 B prizes; 12 C prizes; 18 consolation prizes.
Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper won the C prize with a series of 5 articles "Thousand-billion-dollar projects on hold".
