According to locals, this phenomenon usually only appears in spring (after Lunar New Year) or late winter, but this year it happened early and lasted right in the 9th lunar month, which is considered unusual.
On November 7, 8 and 9, Hanoi and many other places will have drizzle and light rain for a long time, accompanied by thick fog. The temperature will fluctuate from 22-28°C, with hot and cold weather at night and in the morning, and high humidity, making the floor always wet.

According to some meteorological experts, the cause of the dampness is due to the cold air mass having weakened, combined with the Southeast wind from the sea encroaching on the mainland, carrying moisture. When the warm, humid air layer meets the cold surface in the house, strong condensation occurs, causing water to condense on the walls, floors, and objects. In addition, the impact of climate change also makes the weather erratic.

The wet weather is forecast to last until November 11, after which a cold front will move down, helping the North to transition to a dry, clear winter climate. Global Weather Service (GFS) data shows that from Wednesday, November 12, Hanoi and the North will be dry again.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the Central region is being affected by weak clouds, localized showers mainly concentrated along the coast, while many places are still sunny. The South has small, localized thunderstorms, mainly in Tay Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai , Dong Thap... so there is a possibility of prolonged showers in the afternoon of November 9.
Weather experts recommend that people in the North should keep their doors closed to limit moisture from outside blowing into their homes, but at the same time keep their homes well-ventilated, use exhaust fans or dehumidifiers, avoid drying wet clothes indoors, and dry floors and walls to limit damage to electronic devices and wooden furniture.
