Cold air begins to flow in, the North is immersed in prolonged cold rain

The cold air continuously strengthens, causing rain in the North, Thanh Hoa and the Northern Nghe An region from November 2-4; the weather turns cold, in the highlands some places are very cold with the lowest temperature below 15 degrees.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that currently (November 2), cold air has begun to affect the mountainous areas of the North. At Bach Long Vi station, there is strong northeast wind of level 6, gusting to level 7. Tonight, cold air continues to affect other places in the Northeast region.

After that, the cold air continuously intensified, expanding its influence to the Northwest, North Central and some places in the Central Central region. On land, the Northeast wind was strong at level 2-3, and in coastal areas at level 3-4.

Due to the influence of the cold air, from the night of November 2-4, the North, Thanh Hoa and the North of Nghe An will have rain in many places. Also from the night of November 2-4, in the Northeast and Thanh Hoa, the weather will be cold, with some places in the highlands being very cold. In the Northwest and Nghe An, the weather will turn cold from the night of November 3-4.

The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An is generally from 16-19 degrees, in mountainous areas it is below 15 degrees.

In Hanoi area, from November 2-4, there will be rain and cold weather. The lowest temperature during this cold air mass is generally 17-19 degrees. Then, from November 5, the temperature in the area will gradually increase and the weather will be sunny.

In addition, from noon and afternoon of November 2, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the Northeast wind will gradually increase to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8, rough seas, waves 2-3.5m high; in the North East Sea, there will be strong Northeast wind of level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9, rough seas, waves 3-5m high.

Central region has continuous heavy rain

Due to the influence of cold air strengthening combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone, the area from the south of Nghe An to Quang Ngai and the east of Gia Lai province continues to have widespread heavy rain.

Specifically, from this evening to the evening of November 4, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang City and the East of Quang Ngai Province will have heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall in the area from South Quang Tri to Da Nang and the East of Quang Ngai Province of 250-450mm, locally over 700mm; in the area of ​​Ha Tinh, North Quang Tri 150-250mm, locally over 400mm; in the South of Nghe An Province and the West of Quang Ngai there will be moderate to heavy rain with rainfall of 60-120mm, locally over 200mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (>200mm/3 hours).

From this evening to tonight, the East of Gia Lai province will have moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall of 40-70mm, locally very heavy rain over 150mm. Warning of risk of heavy rain (>60mm/3h).

In addition, also this evening and tonight, in the West of Gia Lai province, Dak Lak to Lam Dong and the South, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10-30mm, locally heavy rain over 70mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (>60mm/3h).

Then, on the night of November 4, the area from Ha Tinh to Da Nang City continued to have moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall of 20-40mm, locally very heavy rain of over 70mm. From November 5 to the morning of November 6, heavy rain in the above area tended to decrease gradually.

The meteorological agency warned that cold weather could affect livestock and poultry and the growth and development of crops.

Heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes; heavy rain in a short period of time can cause flooding in urban areas and industrial zones.

Strong winds and gusts, large waves at sea are likely to affect boating and other activities.
