Movie title Rain of Fire - Brother Overcomes a Thousand Thorns Movie 9,342/312 shows were sold, earning 2.07 billion VND. The documentary about 33 brothers had a low screening rate but sold outstanding tickets thanks to the majority of the audience being Gai con (fandom name of Anh trai fans).
As noted by Vanguard, Many cinemas announced sold out after Rain of Fire Early ticket sales started on May 13. After 4 hours of opening, the film sold 20,000 tickets, setting a record as the top 1 concert film box office in Vietnam.
On May 16, the revenue of Detective Kien: The Headless Case sold 20,640 tickets/2,023 screenings, earning 1.65 billion VND. Flip side 8: Sun bracelet earned 996.8 million VND, thanks to selling 12,532 tickets/1,404 screenings.
Rain of Fire block the way Detective Kien and Flip Side 8 after both works surpassed the 200 billion VND mark after half a month of release. The total revenue of the film Victor Vu and Ly Hai are 216.8 billion VND and 213.6 billion VND respectively.
With the current slow revenue growth, about 1.7 billion VND/day with Detective Kien and approximately one billion VND/day ( Flip Side 8: Vong Tay Nang ), the two works have little chance of reaching the 250 billion VND mark.
Detective Kien and Flip Side 8 faced a sharp drop in revenue after the April 30 holiday movie season. Before being Rain of Fire blocking the way, Victor Vu and Ly Hai's film has a close chase.
When it first came out, Flip Side 8 overwhelming the screenings, sometimes more than 5,000 shows/day, while Detective Kien only about 2,000-3,000 screenings were scheduled. After the 5-day holiday, the race suddenly reversed.
Ticket sales and daily revenue Detective Kien increased sharply. From a gap of several tens of billions of dong, Victor Vu's film gradually narrowed the sales gap with Ly Hai's work and surpassed it spectacularly.
On May 14, total sales of Detective Kien: Mystery headless reached 210 billion VND, officially exceeding the revenue of Flip 8: Sunny Bracelet.
All indicators of Detective Kien are twice as overwhelming as Ly Hai's film. Specifically, Victor Vu's film sold nearly 45,000 tickets/2,500 shows, earning 2.7 billion VND. Flip Side 8 25,000 tickets sold/1,800 screenings, earning 1.4 billion VND (on May 14).
After Detective Kien exceed total sales of Flip side 8: Vong tay nang , Victor Vu completely won the race for movies on April 30 this year.
