Muller made a fortune in the US league. |
According to Bild , the German striker is expected to earn around 6.6 million euros over the next year and a half in MLS, the highest in the Vancouver Whitecaps. However, this figure is only a third of the 19 million euros that Lionel Messi, the league's number one star, is receiving at Inter Miami.
Before Muller joined, Vancouver Whitecaps' salary budget was around 11.5 million euros/season. The highest-paid player at the club is currently Ryan Gauld (around 3 million euros per year).
Muller's former Germany teammate Marco Reus earns around €1m a season with LA Galaxy. Joining the Vancouver Whitecaps would make Muller one of the highest earners in the league.
Muller leaves Bayern after an illustrious career that saw him make over 600 appearances for the club. With the Bavarians, Muller won 12 Bundesliga titles, two Champions Leagues, two FIFA Club World Cups and numerous other trophies.
In the German national team, Muller scored 45 goals, won the Golden Boot of the 2010 World Cup and together with "Mannschaft" won the 2014 World Cup.
The decision to come to MLS was not only a turning point in Muller's career but also increased the reputation of this tournament, helping MLS attract more and more big stars.
