When businessman becomes teacher
“Many people who meet me say that I am a teacher who does business, but no, I am a businessman who works as a teacher,” CEO An Nguyen, a Vietnamese-American, Founder of theeducational platform SuperX Academy, shared with Dau Tu Newspaper.
Founded in 2022 in the US, SuperX Academy aims to provide training programs and seminars to develop skills for entrepreneurs. By using advanced personal development tools in the world, then translating them into Vietnamese, SuperX Academy helps small and medium-sized business owners understand their strengths and weaknesses, thereby finding a suitable learning path, moving towards building a business with a 100-year vision, instead of 20 - 30 years.
In addition to learning knowledge, SuperX Academy is also a place to connect students with a team of experienced consultants who not only have extensive knowledge, but are also willing to share and support students on the path of development.
According to CEO An Nguyen, in the community of Vietnamese business owners in the US in particular and abroad in general, no one has taken on the role of leader and communicator. In reality, business people are often very busy and do not have time to share; and those who often share, do not do business.

“As a long-time businessman, I want to share my experience and knowledge with everyone. I think the world is big enough; there is enough wealth and prosperity in the world. I don’t need to do everything alone, keep my knowledge to myself, but can share it with everyone to develop together,” CEO An Nguyen emphasized.
In the US, this businessman born in 1977 is the owner of 4 restaurants with 4 different culinary styles, including Gao Fresh Noodles specializing in pho; Nam Phuong Vietnamese Restaurant specializing in traditional Vietnamese dishes, Sate Viet Grills & Banh Mi specializing in serving banh mi and pho, Q-Time Restaurant specializing in Western food. In addition, An Nguyen is also the CEO of a chain of 12 hair and beauty schools under the Atlanta Beauty & Barber Academy brand.
With the SuperX Academy platform, An Nguyen said he does not focus on business and profit goals, but also does not give knowledge completely for free, because according to him, "what is free is often underestimated".
The SuperX Academy platform is a combination of online and offline courses, including free courses and courses with tuition fees ranging from several hundred to thousands of dollars. CEO An Nguyen said he could not remember exactly how many courses he had organized or how many events he had been a speaker at, but he knew that his students were not only limited to the Vietnamese community in the US, but also in many other countries.
elsewhere, like Indonesia, Singapore, China...
An Nguyen is promoting the expansion of the SuperX Academy model in Vietnam. He is also collaborating with technology start-up GenAI to bring the artificial intelligence product - virtual assistant Aidu, to the overseas business community.
To do big, need to be systematic and scientific
Following his mother to the United States at the age of 16, An Nguyen faced a difficult life in a foreign land. However, he said that the economic hardship could not compare to the language challenge. It took him 8 years to understand and speak the native language fluently.
An Nguyen studied information technology engineering at a university in Silicon Valley. But when he graduated, he did not work in his major, but decided to put his engineering degree in the drawer and open a restaurant to start his own business.
Like many other Vietnamese in the US, An Nguyen realized that time is an obstacle to doing business. He took on many jobs at the same time, was always busy from morning to night and had no time for himself. Realizing that an engineering degree was not enough to do business well, he continued to study for a master's degree in business administration. In addition, he also took advanced courses from many famous leaders in the world, including "CEO training master" Tony Robbins, to break through the limits of operations and people.
“The more I learn, the more I see that if Vietnamese business owners know this knowledge, they can do business better, reduce unfair competition, and reduce dumping. From there, I came up with the idea of establishing a training academy to pass on my knowledge and experience to Vietnamese businessmen in the US,” An Nguyen said about the reason for founding SuperX Academy.
During his visits to Ho Chi Minh City from the US, An Nguyen was extremely impressed with the spaces filled with business billboards, or the image of small alleys filled with shops selling breakfast food, iced tea, etc.
The founder of SuperX Academy commented that Vietnamese people have the strength of being hard-working, quick learners and also love doing business, but the weakness is that they are afraid to learn business in a systematic way. Many business people do not distinguish clearly whether they are owners, managers or employees. In the US, many restaurant owners and nail salon owners take on dozens of jobs and try to work until they are exhausted. An Nguyen believes that this way of working makes the owner always busy and does not create opportunities for employees to develop. According to him, if diligence and hard work are combined with Western business methods, Vietnamese businesses will certainly go very far.
In the context of a constantly changing society, new technologies and new products appearing every day, CEO An Nguyen emphasized that it is important for business owners to increase their value in their work. That value comes from knowledge, skills, thinking, and habits. “If you want to have more, you have to become better. If you want to change the world, change yourself,” said An Nguyen.
