Speaking at the White House on October 1 after signing a last-minute temporary government funding bill, Biden expected House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to maintain his commitment to ensuring travel and necessary support for Ukraine.
Mr. Biden stressed that the US does not have much time, everything is very urgent, and called on Congress to seriously handle this issue.

President Biden added: "I want to assure our allies, the American people, and the people of Ukraine that you can count on America's support. We will not walk away."
According to RT, many US lawmakers believe that passing a support package for Ukraine in Congress is becoming increasingly difficult. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, although still committed to helping Ukraine, said that US security issues must be a bigger priority.
"The US border issues are more important, more Americans have died on the US-Mexico border than have died in Ukraine," McCarthy told CBS on October 1. He also suggested that future financial aid packages for Ukraine should include provisions to ensure US border security.
Washington has provided Ukraine with at least $46 billion in military supplies since the conflict escalated, in addition to billions of dollars in other financial assistance.
In a related development, hard-line Republican congressman Matt Gaetz said he would file a motion to remove McCarthy from office, calling for a vote to remove him from the position of House Speaker, testing McCarthy's support in the House, which the Republican Party controls.
Under pressure, Mr. McCarthy told CBS : "I will overcome this. This is personal for Mr. Gaetz."

It is unclear how much support McCarthy will receive in a removal vote or whether any Democrats will back him, according to the South China Morning Post . McCarthy angered Democrats last month by launching an impeachment inquiry into US President Joe Biden.
Meanwhile, some Democrats have suggested they might back Mr McCarthy if the effort to oust him comes at a time of turmoil.
Others want to support a moderate Republican who is willing to share power with them and allow for shared power on House committees. Some have expressed support for House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries.
