Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien - Head of Family, Society and Economy Department, Lam Dong Provincial Women's Union gave a speech to introduce the workshop. |
Implementing Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children" under the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021 - 2030, phase I: 2021 - 2025", Women's Unions at all levels in the province have proactively deployed the development of the Trusted Address Model in the community as a practical, timely and effective solution to support women and children who are victims of violence. At the same time, it contributes to raising public awareness of human rights, gender equality and preventing violations of the law, especially in remote, isolated and ethnic minority areas.
The Women's Association Branch Chairmen directly managing and operating the Community Trusted Address Models attended the workshop. |
Currently, the province has 97 Community Trusted Address Models, of which 27 models have been built in extremely difficult areas under Project 8 with 405 members. For each model built, the Women's Union at all levels initially supports the purchase of facilities and equipment to maintain and serve the temporary shelter for victims of violence with 15 million VND/model.
Ms. Cil Bri - Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions discussed the role of the department in supporting and promoting the Community Trusted Address Model in ethnic minority areas. |
In addition, the Women's Union at all levels also organized training for the Executive Board and members of the model, women's union members in the community on skills to speak up, support, protect victims of domestic violence and skills to operate the Community Trusted Address model; propaganda on the Law on Marriage and Family, prevention of child injuries, prevention of child abuse, prevention of domestic violence; propaganda and mobilization of women's union members to change their "thinking and ways of doing" to contribute to eliminating prejudices and gender stereotypes in the family and community, cultural practices that are no longer appropriate and some urgent social issues for women and children...
Along with that, the media coordinated to propagate the contents of the Emulation Movement to Build New-Era Lam Dong Women; regulations of Vietnamese law on gender equality...
Representative of Women's Union of Lieng Srong commune, Dam Rong district discussed the work of propaganda and raising community awareness about the Community Trusted Address Pilot Model |
After 4 years of implementing the model, there has been only 1 case of overnight shelter at the Community Trust Address. This has gradually affirmed the important role of the model in enhancing propaganda and mobilization work, helping to build trust between people and the support system, arousing the participation of mass organizations, village elders, village chiefs and the community to contribute to building a safe and healthy living environment for women and children, and connecting the community.
Representative of Lam Dong Provincial Youth Union discussed the role of the Youth Union in community engagement activities and connecting support networks for the Community Trusted Address Model. |
However, in particularly difficult areas, the implementation of the model still faces many difficulties, limited situation handling skills, lack of legal information, and inadequate facilities. Most of the people directly managing and operating the Community Trusted Address Models work part-time, do not have time, and do not have a support system, so it is difficult to maintain long-term enthusiasm.
Representative of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism discussed the role of the industry in building, maintaining and replicating the Community Trusted Address Model in the work of preventing and combating domestic violence. |
In addition, some localities still consider domestic violence as a “private matter”; some cases are handled according to custom (fining alcohol, apologizing, etc.), not ensuring the legal rights of victims; mobilizing victims to seek temporary shelter from violence still faces psychological barriers; resources are limited and coordination between relevant sectors is not really effective...
