(QBĐT) - Recognized as a 3-star OCOP product in 2023, Hoang Phuc seasoned squid of Hoang Phuc Seafood Cooperative (Duc Trach commune, Bo Trach) is a favorite choice of customers inside and outside the province.
Ms. Pham Thi Thu Ha, Director of Hoang Phuc Seafood Cooperative, said that the annual squid exploitation reserves in Duc Trach are quite large, with delicious sweet quality. To supply to markets outside the province, squid is often frozen or processed to dry. With the desire to diversify squid products, especially gift products, convenient in transportation, preservation and use, the Cooperative has learned and created seasoned squid products.
To be able to make this product, Ms. Ha learned through social networks how to make rolled squid, bought products from other provinces to try... from there, she came up with her own recipe. Besides processing the right recipe, choosing the source of raw materials is also an important step to produce a quality product. Ms. Ha shared: “To process the seasoned rolled squid product, we have to choose fresh and delicious squid, purchased directly from fishing boats at sea. Then, the squid is classified, pre-processed, the head and fins are removed, then washed, grilled, rolled, seasoned and dried. During the processing, seasoning the squid to taste and grilling the squid evenly, soft and delicious is the most difficult step.”
After many trial productions, by 2023, Hoang Phuc Seafood Cooperative has successfully launched the seasoned squid product to the market. With delicious quality, certified to ensure food safety, Hoang Phuc seasoned squid products are trusted and chosen by many customers in and outside the province. In particular, the product is the first choice of many people when giving gifts, taking abroad...
Thanks to that, on average each month, the cooperative consumes about 180kg of seasoned squid, at a price of 1 million VND/kg. Ms. Ha said: “Currently, on the market, this seasoned squid product is sold at a price of 1.3-1.5 million VND/kg. The cooperative's products have not been on the market for long and the selling price of 1 million VND/kg is basically enough to cover the cost of labor and raw materials. However, we are currently maintaining this price with the desire to promote and introduce the product, so that many people can enjoy and know about the squid products of our homeland. The cooperative's products are loved and chosen by many people, but currently due to the limited production scale of the factory, we often have to accept missing out on many large orders because we cannot produce in time. In the coming time, the cooperative will try to invest in opening a larger processing factory, with a synchronous machinery system to be able to produce large quantities of seasoned squid, meeting the needs of customers."
In addition to seasoned squid products, Hoang Phuc Seafood Cooperative also has dried squid products, frozen fresh squid, frozen fish, etc., creating jobs for 5 regular workers and 10-20 seasonal workers.
Chairman of Duc Trach Commune People's Committee Ho Thi Hoa said: “Squid is a product with a large quantity of exploitation and high value compared to other seafood caught by Duc Trach commune boats. However, for a long time, squid as well as other exploited seafood have mostly been sold fresh, so the price is cheap. The production of seasoned squid by Hoang Phuc Seafood Cooperative will contribute to improving the quality and value of the product; at the same time, enriching the gift products for tourists ; creating jobs for some local workers…”.
It is known that, along with the Hoang Phuc seasoned squid product, Duc Trach commune also has 2 products of one-sun dried squid and frozen squid of Phuoc Sang General Trading Company Limited that have also achieved 3-star OCOP products. These products have good quality, are trusted and chosen by customers inside and outside the province, contributing to promoting and enhancing the brand of Quang Binh squid.
