Nguyen Thuy Thai Thuyen (born 1998, from Vinh Long) is the “lucky daughter-in-law” in the clip. Thuyen said that what she listed was only a small part. The love and pampering her mother-in-law has given her over the years is immeasurable.

Thai Thuyen and Tran Thanh Liem (born in 1997, from Vinh Long) have known each other since they were high school students. Thuyen first met her mother-in-law - Mrs. Nguyen Thi Chuc (born in 1974) at a school performance and made a good impression because of her gentleness and politeness.

In 2017, Thuyen followed her boyfriend home to meet her parents. Her future mother-in-law said something that she still remembers: “I have 3 sons. From now on, I will consider you as my own daughter.” From then on, the two sides became as close as blood relatives even though Thuyen was not yet her official daughter-in-law.

Thuyen was loved by her mother-in-law like her own child.

Thanh Liem studied information technology at a university in Ho Chi Minh City, while Thai Thuyen passed the preschool education exam but decided to drop out and switch to sales.

“Living in Ho Chi Minh City, we only knew how to rely on each other, life was difficult, lacking in all aspects. However, we were never grumpy or cold to each other, only thinking of one thing: trying together.

“The support and assistance from my husband’s parents is a great source of encouragement for us. Even though we are not married yet, my mother already considers me as her daughter-in-law and always tells my husband Liem to take good care of me,” Thuyen shared.

Mrs. Chuc called Thuyen every day to check on her. Every weekend, she packed meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, etc. to send to the city for her children. She remembered the dishes Thuyen liked and always prepared them whenever she came home to visit.

In 2022, after many ups and downs, Thai Thuyen and Thanh Liem finally had a perfect wedding. Her parents-in-law absolutely respected their children's wishes on their happy day.

“I remember, I really liked that wedding dress but the price was a bit high so I hesitated. My mother-in-law said, ‘You only get married once in your life, if you like one, just rent it, I’ll give you more money’.

After the wedding, Thuyen and her husband still live and work in Ho Chi Minh City, and every weekend they spend time returning to Vinh Long to visit both sets of parents.

Thuyen has never had to wake up early to sweep the house, go to the market, or cook breakfast for her husband's family.

On the contrary, every time she wakes up at 10-11am, there is always a table full of food waiting for her, all of which are delicious dishes.

Thuyen has two younger brothers-in-law, all the housework is done by them.

Mother-in-law knew Thuyen liked to eat shrimp and fish, so she often caught them and cooked them for her. Thuyen liked to eat rambutan, star apple, mangosteen, etc., so her mother-in-law bought the seedlings to plant in the backyard. Now, the trees have borne fruit, and Thuyen can eat plenty of clean fruit.

“When she knew I was coming home, my mother often bought snacks and left them at home. She rowed the boat to take me to the market, cut banana trees to make buoys and taught me to swim in the river... I always remember so many memories of my mother.

“My mother’s love for me has remained the same for 10 years, even more. Until now, she still calls me ‘the princess of the family’,” Thuyen confided.

She always tries to build a happy home to make her mother-in-law feel at ease.
