The BTR-60MB3 was introduced by Belarus after being developed by the 140th Armored Repair Plant and a Russian defense enterprise. The project is aimed at serving Asian and African countries that still operate the Soviet-era BTR-60. The vehicle retains the old chassis but integrates modern technology to meet new combat requirements. The original gasoline engine block was replaced with two Belarus-made D-245 12S diesel engines, with a total capacity of 218 horsepower. The new system helps the vehicle operate more stably, save fuel and is easy to maintain in harsh conditions.
The cockpit has been redesigned with a digital display and a 360-degree camera surveillance system. The driver and commander can observe the whole scene, reducing the risk of ambushes and improving the effectiveness of urban operations.
Firepower remains the 14.5 mm KPVT and 7.62 mm PKT, but is remotely controlled, with a two-axis stabilization system. The crew can fire while the vehicle is moving, while manual control is retained. The turret integrates a thermal imaging sight and an observation post for the commander. The sensors help identify targets at night or in poor visibility conditions, improving combat capabilities compared to the original version.
BTR-60MB3 is sufficient for continued use in current battlefield conditions.
