On November 30, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that its Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, had a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan to discuss the situation in Syria.
The statement stated: "The two sides expressed deep concern over the dangerous developments in the Syrian Arab Republic related to the military escalation in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib."
The two Foreign Ministers agreed on the need to coordinate joint actions to stabilize the situation in the country.
In a related development, on the same day, Iranian state media reported that the Iranian and Russian foreign ministers voiced support for Syria amid a major attack by militant groups.
In a phone call with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said the attacks were part of a plan by Israel and the US to destabilize the region.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry 's statement on the phone call, both sides expressed deep concern about the dangerous escalation of the situation in Syria.
Iran says "terrorists" have attacked its consulate in the Syrian city of Aleppo.
In a statement, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei "strongly condemned the attack" by "armed terrorists" on the Iranian Consulate, and said all staff were safe.
