FAB Attacks Ukrainian Armed Forces
On April 12, the AVP reported that in recent months, the Russian military has significantly increased the use of glide bombs, especially FAB-250s, launched from Su-25 attack aircraft. This tactic has become increasingly decisive in the conflict, especially in the Avdeevka and Chasovoy Yar areas.
The Dutch publication De Morgen in its editorial notes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, facing a shortage of artillery shells and anti-aircraft missiles, are increasingly relying on suicide drones. Meanwhile, the Russian military is actively using glide bombs to create breakthroughs on the entire front.
Since the beginning of the year, about 3,500 such bombs have been used against Ukrainian military positions, turning command posts and troop concentrations of Ukrainian forces into rubble.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have similar weapons in their arsenal - modernized American aerial bombs with the JDAM complex, used in Afghanistan and Iraq. However, the quantity is extremely limited.
The main advantage of glide bombs is that they are launched beyond the range of Ukrainian air defenses.
FAB-3000 Impact in Ukraine
Experts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) note that Ukrainian positions in Chasov Yar and near Avdiivka are also being destroyed by S-8 and S-13 missiles. The intensity of air strikes is 25-30 per day. With the support of aviation, Russian troops are advancing into the Avdeevsky sector of the front.
By 9 April, Pervomaiskoe was abandoned by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and was under Russian control. Russian troops also made significant advances in the fields northeast of Netailovo, in Semyonovka and in the fields west of Tonenkoye, as well as southeast of Novokalinovo.
The Russian army is trying to cut off and gain control of populated areas on both flanks of the offensive, advancing towards the forest area east of Novokalinovo, the forest areas between Tonenkoye and Vodyanoye.
Currently, an attack is underway on Semenovka, using mainly infantry tactics. Mechanized units are advancing on Semyonovka from the south, and now infantry fighting vehicles are moving small groups of infantry closer to the front line. Taking control of Semenovka would open the way for an attack in the Umansky direction.
Information cited by AVP via ISW said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have partially withdrawn from Berdychi and most of them have left the vicinity of Semenovka, Pervomaisky.
Thus, Russian glide bombing tactics had a significant impact on the course of the conflict, allowing the Russian army to advance.
