The Russian corporation said its experts have upgraded the Pantsir complex to counter new targets, including the Storm Shadow cruise missile.
"All necessary changes have been made to Pantsir, helping the complex increase its effectiveness in dealing with difficult-to-shoot-down targets, including the Storm Shadow long-range cruise missile," a representative of Russia's Rostec defense corporation announced on August 16.

This is the first time Russia has announced that it has found an effective solution to the Storm Shadow stealth missiles supplied to Ukraine by the UK and France. Rostec Corporation previously said that Pantsir complexes are also capable of shooting down 100% of rockets launched from the HIMARS rocket launchers supplied to Ukraine by the US.
The Russian military recovered a Storm Shadow missile in a nearly intact state in early July after it fell in a conflict zone in Ukraine. The missile was then transferred to Russian defense enterprises to decode the algorithm and control system to find a countermeasure.
A representative of Rostec said that Russia had developed the Pantsir anti-aircraft missile-gun complex to take on the role of multi-purpose air defense long before the conflict with Ukraine broke out. "Combat results prove the correctness of the design," he affirmed.

Russia developed the Pantsir anti-aircraft gun-missile system in the 1990s to replace the Tunguska M1 system. The Pantsir-S1 variant is equipped with two 30mm cannons and 12 anti-aircraft missile launchers with a range of 18km and a flight ceiling of 15,000m.
In addition to missiles, rockets, helicopters and other aircraft, the Pantsir complex also detects civilian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) measuring 30x30 cm, which Ukraine often uses for reconnaissance or suicide attacks. The Pantsir complex has a thermal imaging camera that allows the gunner to detect whether the plastic shell of the UAV is equipped with explosives and fuses.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that Pantsir crews detected and destroyed multiple targets during each combat shift. The Russian Defense Ministry's Zvezda channel reported that Ukraine was hunting for Pantsir complexes because they were "100 percent effective."
