"It must be recognized that the North Korean military-industrial complex has achieved impressive results over the past 10 years. Pyongyang has developed an almost complete line of ballistic and cruise missiles, with dozens of test launches having been carried out," the Russian diplomat said.
According to Mr. Matsegora, the North Korean leadership has no reason to develop and implement large-scale nuclear missile programs without "aggression, without increasing military, political and economic pressure, without plots to interfere in internal affairs and direct threats to eliminate the existing socio-political system there."
The Russian ambassador affirmed: "North Korea of course does not intend to attack the United States, Japan or South Korea, occupy these countries or change their political systems."
In mid-April, it was reported that North Korea tested a new solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missile, the Hwasong-18.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported thatPresident Kim Jong-un personally supervised the test launch.
