The West has "no other choice"
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg affirmed on November 27 that the West "has no other choice" but to continue supporting Ukraine's fight against Russia.
"We have no other choice. The other option, for [Russian President Vladimir] Putin to win, is a tragedy for Ukraine and dangerous for us," Stoltenberg said in an interview with AFP.
"Despite the difficulties, the lack of progress, achievements or the regaining of territory, we need to continue to support Ukraine," Mr. Stoltenberg stressed.
Also on November 27, Mr. Stoltenberg said that Ukraine was still causing great losses to Russia, according to AFP. "We have seen high casualties and some of the most intense fighting that we have seen in the entire war, which has really happened in the last few months," Mr. Stoltenberg said.
Mr. Stoltenberg emphasized that although Ukrainian forces are currently making no progress, Kyiv has regained 50% of the territory controlled by Russia since Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022. "This is a great victory for Ukraine," Mr. Stoltenberg commented.

US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien said on November 27 that during his visit to Europe this week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will emphasize NATO's continued support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia, according to Reuters.
Mr. O'Brien told reporters that Secretary of State Blinken will highlight the continued commitment of the US and its allies to support Ukraine when he attends the first foreign ministers' meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council in Brussels. "This is part of the process of seeking a place in the alliance that we have always believed is the future of Ukraine," Mr. O'Brien stressed.
Mr. O'Brien made the above statement in the context of the conflict between Hamas and Israel as well as increasing tensions in the Middle East have raised concerns that Washington cannot maintain the level of military and diplomatic support it has given to Ukraine, according to Reuters.
