Plaques to honor foreign military experts at the Vietnam Military History Museum

On August 29, at the Vietnam Military History Museum, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to place plaques on statues honoring Soviet and Cuban military experts; and to lay symbolic stones on statues honoring Chinese military experts and international soldiers from Laos and Cambodia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense , emphasized that throughout the history of resistance for independence and national reunification, the Vietnamese people have always received sincere, loyal, and effective help from international friends, especially China, the Soviet Union, Cuba, Laos, and Cambodia.

According to Mr. Hoang Xuan Chien, with the tradition of "Drinking water, remember its source" of the nation, the construction of the Symbol of International Solidarity, Friendship and Gratitude is the correct policy of the Party and State. The project has profound historical, cultural and political values, is a vivid symbol of pure, loyal and affectionate international solidarity. At the same time, it is a testament to the great sacrifice and dedication of international friends to the cause of national liberation, national unification and protection of the Fatherland.

The area symbolizing international solidarity, friendship and gratitude was deployed in the outdoor exhibition space of the Vietnam Military History Museum, with a total area of ​​over 3,600m². The project includes 5 groups of statues paying tribute to the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, Laos and Cambodia. Each group has a group of full-body statues of 3-5 characters, about 3m high, placed on a square red copper pedestal. The entire technical infrastructure, landscape, lighting system and trees are planned synchronously, creating a solemn and harmonious space.

Each statue cluster is created based on historical elements, recreating the contributions and support of countries in Vietnam's resistance war, by prestigious sculptors. The design and construction process has coordination and consultation with relevant countries, ensuring compliance with Vietnamese law and artistic standards.

After 45 days of urgent implementation, the infrastructure and landscape have been basically completed; the two statue clusters of the Soviet Union and Cuba have been inaugurated, ensuring quality, technical and aesthetic requirements. The statue clusters of China, Laos and Cambodia are continuing to be deployed, expected to be completed before December 22, 2025.
