This year, Mr. Liem's family grew 200 "giant" yams. Thanks to years of experience and meticulous care, the yams are larger, brighter in color, and fewer are damaged.
These are large-sized jicama tubers, so they weigh more than regular jicama tubers. The heaviest tuber weighed 22 kg. The highest selling price was 2 million VND/tuber (an increase of 200,000 VND/tuber compared to last year), and the lowest was 500,000 VND/tuber.
According to Mr. Liem, jicama for Tet (Lunar New Year) is becoming increasingly popular, with many customers coming directly to his farm to buy and place orders before Tet. This year, customers from many places such as Hai Phong, Hanoi , and Quang Ninh have already bought all of his family's jicama for Tet, and he has never had to take it to the market to sell. Mr. Liem shared: "Growing jicama for Tet only requires a lot of care, but the cost is not much."
