Ngan 98 was prosecuted: Family members promptly "withdrew their names" from Zubu company 1 month ago

On October 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department's Investigation Police Agency ( Economic Police Department) issued a Decision to prosecute a criminal case, prosecute the accused and issue an Order of temporary detention against Vo Thi Ngoc Ngan (nickname Ngan 98, or DJ Ngan 98) - operator of ZuBu Trading and Service Company Limited and ZuBu shop business household - for the crime of "Producing and trading in counterfeit food products" under Article 193 of the Penal Code.

Zubu Trading and Service Company Limited (abbreviated as Zubu Company) is a business that Ngan established to trade in "health protection and weight loss" products that have been livestreamed widely on social networks for many years.

Notably, just about a month before Ngan 98 was officially prosecuted, Ngan's biological mother quickly withdrew her name as the business owner as well as the position of Director and Legal Representative of Zubu Company.

According to the National Business Information Portal, Zubu Company was established in May 2021; headquartered in the old Binh Dinh province. Its main business is food trading.

Initially, the company had a charter capital of 200 million VND, with Ms. Tran Thi Thanh (born in 1972, Ngan's mother) as Director and Legal Representative. In September 2022, Zubu Company increased its capital to 3 billion VND, Ms. Thanh was still the owner.

In 2024, the role of business representative was transferred to Mr. Le Trong Khanh (born in 1994), but Ms. Thanh still held the title.

In 2025, as soon as the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety inspected and verified the production, business, and advertising activities of some weight loss products advertised by Ngan 98; in September, the business owner, Director, and legal representative of Zubu Company transferred to Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Bich (born in 1986).

According to the investigation results, Ngan established and operated ZuBu Company and ZuBu Shop Business Household (under someone else's name). In fact, all operations, finance and business activities were directly directed and benefited by Ngan.

Since 2021, Ngan has cooperated with several factories in Hanoi to order the production of health food products for weight loss such as Super Detox X3, X7, X1000. On paper, these products are licensed for circulation.

However, Ngan took advantage of the "free gift, not for sale" model to sell additional "Collagen vegetable pills" products without any public records and without a license. This was to deal with the management agency, but in reality, he sold the entire product to customers as a complete "weight loss regimen".

The products are transported from the factory in Hanoi to the warehouse of ZuBu shop in Ho Chi Minh City, then distributed through social networks Facebook, TikTok and Zubu Company's hotline. Customers are advised to buy according to the "weight loss regimen" from 4 to 15kg, each product set includes a box of X3/X7/X1000 and a corresponding Collagen package, with prices ranging from 870,000 VND to 1.1 million VND.
