During these historic days of May, millions of Vietnamese hearts are filled with emotion as they remember President Ho Chi Minh – the brilliant leader of the Party and the Vietnamese people, the great teacher of the Vietnamese revolution, the national liberation hero, and a world cultural figure – with respect, gratitude, and reverence. Throughout the province, many practical and meaningful activities have taken place, with people competing to achieve accomplishments to honor their beloved President Ho Chi Minh on the 136th anniversary of his birth.

A vibrant atmosphere of competition

The investment project to build the Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway, specifically the section within Son La province, commenced a year ago as a project to celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday. The project is of particular importance, serving as a strategic connection between the Northwest region, the Northern Delta, and Hanoi , shortening distances, reducing travel time, and opening up new development opportunities for Son La province and the Northwest region. These days, the construction site is bustling with activity, driven by a spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain." Closely observing the construction site, Mr. Hoang Manh Thang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Transportation Project Management Board, stated: From April 1st, 2026, after the land for the various contract packages was largely handed over, the unit has regularly inspected the site and urged contractors to increase manpower and equipment to ensure the progress and quality of the project. The entire project comprises 3 bidding packages, with the total number of main construction teams increasing from 18 to 27; the number of personnel mobilized increasing from 415 to 528, and the equipment from 194 to 241. Some main construction teams were subdivided to accelerate the construction progress.

At construction sites for school building projects in border communes, as per the Politburo 's Conclusion No. 81-KL/TW, work is also bustling and urgent. Striving to complete 13 integrated primary and secondary boarding school projects in border communes before June 30, 2026, the Provincial People's Committee has launched a "100-day and night" campaign to accelerate construction progress. To date, the projects have achieved completion rates ranging from 42% to 79%; including 3 schools exceeding 70%; 1 school exceeding 60%; 5 schools exceeding 50%; and 4 schools exceeding 40%.

One of the projects progressing well is the Phieng Khoai Commune Primary and Secondary Boarding School Project, which has completed 67% of its construction. Mr. Tran Nam Trung, Chairman of the Phieng Khoai Commune People's Committee, informed: The project covers an area of ​​5 hectares. To date, the commune has proactively handled land clearance through dialogue with the people, creating high levels of consensus. In addition, the commune has focused on ensuring security and order, promptly resolving any arising difficulties, and creating favorable conditions for the contractor to confidently carry out construction.

To celebrate the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth, several large-scale projects have been launched and commenced, such as: the groundbreaking ceremony for a factory producing buoys and plastic products, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the floating solar power project on the Son La hydroelectric reservoir in Chieng Lao commune. The floating solar power project alone has a total investment of approximately 17,000 billion VND, a capacity of 800MW, and is expected to add about 1.25 billion kWh of clean electricity annually to the national power grid. The project is of significant importance in exploiting the local potential and strengths, creating momentum for green and sustainable economic development, and contributing to achieving double-digit growth targets in the coming years.

To commemorate President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, many meaningful and practical activities are held, such as: awarding Party badges on May 19th; organizing Party membership ceremonies on May 19th; honoring exemplary individuals who study and follow President Ho Chi Minh's teachings; offering incense and flowers in remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh; planting trees as he instructed; and decorating streets and villages with vibrant national flags... All of these are beautiful flowers offered to him, with boundless respect and gratitude.

Motivation ignites the desire to excel.

Competing to achieve outstanding results to offer to Uncle Ho, we are further motivated to enhance our self-cultivation and training, and to promote the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style. Many new models, effective and creative approaches, and exemplary advanced examples in various fields are spreading widely throughout social life.

Over the past 10 years of implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW dated May 15, 2016, of the XII Political Bureau on promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style, the Provincial Party Standing Committee has selected 11 contents, identifying 6 breakthrough areas to focus on leading and directing the implementation of solutions to pressing and prominent issues, creating consensus, support, and active participation of cadres, Party members, and the people in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, and the province's political tasks. The breakthrough areas of Party committees and organizations at all levels focus on building a culture and ethics of public service; improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of grassroots Party organizations; administrative reform; and applying scientific and technological advancements and high technology to agricultural production. Building a culture rich in national identity, promoting the cultural values ​​of the ethnic groups in Son La..., contributing to the successful implementation of the resolutions of the Party congresses at all levels, and the political tasks of the locality and unit.

The entire province currently maintains 3,008 models of learning and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings, focusing on areas such as Party building, administrative reform, economic development, poverty alleviation, and new rural development... bringing practical results and contributing to improving the material and spiritual lives of the people.

Reporting to our beloved Uncle Ho, the Party Committee, government, and people of Son La province are proud of their significant achievements. In 2025, the province's economy is projected to grow impressively by 8.03%, exceeding the target of 8%; per capita GRDP is estimated at 71.6 million VND/person/year, an increase of 14 million VND compared to 2024. State budget revenue in the province is expected to reach over 5,600 billion VND, an increase of over 35.3% compared to the central government's assigned target. The added value of the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector (at constant prices) is estimated to increase by 6.76% compared to the same period last year, ranking first out of 34 provinces and cities. The added value of the industrial sector is expected to increase by 11.93% compared to the same period last year, ranking 12th out of 34 provinces and cities.

Urban areas are becoming increasingly modern and well-maintained, while rural areas are flourishing; asphalt and concrete roads have been extended to 100% of communes. The Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway section within Son La province is being accelerated, bringing with it high expectations for significant changes. Notably, the Moc Chau National Tourist Area has received the "World's Leading Nature Destination 2025" award for the third time, and the "Asia's Leading Nature Destination 2025" award for the fourth consecutive time. Culture, social welfare, healthcare, and education are receiving attention. The poverty rate according to the multidimensional poverty standard has decreased to approximately 7.89%.

The development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation has yielded many positive results. Local military and defense work has been carried out effectively. Political security, social order and safety, and border security have been maintained, stabilized, and firmly consolidated. Foreign affairs and international cooperation continue to be maintained and developed. Party building and the consolidation of the political system have been carried out effectively.

Commemorating President Ho Chi Minh's birthday with many vibrant emulation movements and practical activities following his example further affirms that Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style are the spiritual foundation and a great source of inner strength, continuing to guide our nation to confidently move into a new era. The Party committees, government, military, and people of all ethnic groups in Son La province will continue to uphold revolutionary traditions and the spirit of self-reliance and self-improvement, joining the whole country in entering a new era – an era of prosperous, thriving, civilized, and happy development as President Ho Chi Minh always wished.
