Many tourists, especially young people, have come to Hoi An ancient town to take pictures and check-in in front of colorful fabric shops, in front of which are bougainvillea trellises full of flowers.
Whether by accident or on purpose, all the bougainvillea trees in Hoi An are only one velvet purple color, some are planted with red flowers.
This romantic color tone adds a new color to Hoi An ancient town, besides the green, red, purple, and yellow of fabric shops, the ancient brick yellow of old houses, and the mossy color of roof tiles.
Bougainvillea is planted most on both sides of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street. There are large bougainvillea trees, the trunk circumference as big as an old tree. The trees grow up to the roadbed and then stretch their tops to cover the whole space.
Bougainvillea blooming season peaks from after Tet until mid-year. This is the time when tourists flock to walk, sightsee, and shop.
In Hoi An, the most impressive and perhaps oldest bougainvillea tree is planted in a luxury resort on the edge of the old town. This bougainvillea tree radiates from one location and covers almost the entire roof of a row of houses.
The beauty of bougainvillea combined with the century-old beauty of the ancient town makes Hoi An more beautiful in the eyes of tourists, and also makes local people want to return quickly, to "return to the beloved town".
Bougainvillea roots are where many tourists stop to take pictures and check-in in the walking street.
