After many impacts from the Covid-19 pandemic, the tourism industry makes many candidates wonder if it still has appeal and high benchmark scores?

Looking at the standard score picture, at top schools, tourism is still a competitive major. Although there are continuous increases and decreases, this is still considered a major with quite stable admission scores.

At the National Economics University, the benchmark score for the tourism and travel services management major has decreased slightly, from 26.85 points (in 2022) to 26.75 points (in 2023) and decreased by another 0.04 points the following year. Thus, each subject requires candidates to achieve an average of over 8.9 points to have a chance to be admitted to the major.

In contrast, the school's POHE2 program (multiplying the coefficient of 2 English subjects) has a standard score that has increased steadily from 34.8 points in 2022 to 35.65 points the following year and increased by 0.1 points last year.

For this training program, each candidate needs at least 8.7-9.2 points per subject to be able to pass their wishes. In particular, English score is the "weapon" to help increase the possibility of being admitted to the major.

For the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the admission combinations have almost all increased, in which, groups D78 and C00 have higher scores than the remaining admission groups.

In particular, the C00 group was just added to the admission block last year but had the highest score in the whole industry at 28.58 points. In general, the school's benchmark score is still maintained at a fairly high level, suitable for the group of good and excellent candidates.

Similarly, Hanoi University, which offers tourism training in English, still maintains scores around 32 to nearly 34 points (on a 40-point scale) in both training programs during the 2022 to 2024 period. Therefore, to pass the above major, in each exam, candidates need to achieve from 8 to 8.5 points depending on the training program.

In the Southern region, some universities tend to increase their admission scores again in 2024 after decreasing the previous year.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City recorded a significant increase in the tourism and travel services management major, block C00. This is the admission block with the highest score, in the standard system, in 2022 the major took 27.6 points, then decreased by 0.2 points in the following year and continued to reach 28.33 in 2024.

In the high-quality system, block C00 has an increased score of up to 27 points (in 2024), 1.5 points higher than last year.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture has the tourism management major increased from 24 points (in 2023) to 27 points (in 2024) and the tour guide major increased from 23.5 points (in 2023) to 26.5 points (in 2024).

Groups of large training institutions such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, University of Commerce, Hanoi Pedagogical University, University of Transport... maintain the benchmark score of 24-27, without major fluctuations.

In contrast, the group of non-public schools and some local public schools have quite low benchmark scores, ranging from 15 to 22 points. For example, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has maintained the same score of 15 for 3 years; Van Hien University has decreased from 21 points (in 2022) to 16.25 points (in 2024); Forestry University has a benchmark score for ecotourism that has increased from 15 to 19.5 points.

In general, the tourism industry benchmarks over the past three years have had certain fluctuations, but clearly reflect the industry's recovery trend after the pandemic. Many new programs have been opened along with the increasing score trend at many universities, showing that the tourism market is becoming vibrant again, leading to an increasing demand for human resource training.
