What is the field of Marketing?

Marketing is the process of creating value from customers and building close relationships with them in order to generate benefits for the business or organization from the value created. With the strong development of the media and advertising fields, closely linked to brand building, the marketing industry is becoming increasingly important.

When studying this field, students are equipped with knowledge and skills in business and marketing such as market research, building and developing customer relationships, organizing product distribution, product pricing, brand promotion, and event organization.

With the knowledge acquired at school, marketing graduates can work in private companies, state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations, or international brands and companies.

Some job positions that students in this field of study can take on include: Market research specialist, customer service specialist, advertising specialist, public relations specialist, brand development and management specialist; Marketing strategy planning researcher, marketing plan manager, customer relations activity organizer; Teaching and research in business administration and marketing.

Should you choose to study Marketing in the future?

With the intense competition in the job market, the Marketing industry increasingly demands creativity and innovation, making it suitable for ambitious individuals seeking self-development and self-expression. In particular, the explosion of the 4.0 revolution and the availability of modern tools have further boosted the development and popularity of this field of study.

Many students are now choosing to study Marketing and using it as a foundation for their future careers. This is partly evidenced by the fact that the admission cutoff scores for this major have consistently been among the highest for many admission seasons.

Salaries in this field are also quite high compared to the general average and are projected to continue increasing in the future. According to information on the Hoa Sen University website, the average salary for Marketing majors currently ranges from 10 to 30 million VND per month.

If broken down by level, a Marketing Director earns approximately 35-70 million VND/month, a Department Head earns around 25-35 million VND/month, a Team Leader earns 15-25 million VND/month, and entry-level employees earn 10-20 million VND/month. In large corporations and foreign companies, these salaries can be 2-3 times higher.

If categorized by work experience, there are specific groups: Recent graduates with no work experience receive a salary of approximately 8-10 million VND/month, employees with 1-2 years of experience range from 10-15 million VND/month, and employees with more than 3 years of experience range from 15-30 million VND/month.

However, in addition to the advantages that the Marketing field offers students, candidates should also consider their own interests and passions. Because, as with any profession, students and professionals must have passion to thrive.

Some universities currently offering Marketing programs include: National Economics University, Foreign Trade University, Commercial University, Diplomatic Academy, Banking Academy, University of Finance - Marketing, University of Economics - Finance Ho Chi Minh City, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
