Hai Phong Health Sector celebrates 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day

On the afternoon of February 25, at the Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital Hall, the Department of Health solemnly held the 70th Anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2025). Attending the conference were comrades: Le Tien Chau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong City; Dao Trong Duc, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city; Bui Duc Quang, member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Council; Le Khac Nam, member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; also attending were leaders, former leaders of the Department of Health, representatives of leaders of departments, branches, units, and localities in the city.

Delegates attending the Conference

At the Conference, Comrade Le Minh Quang, Director of the Department of Health, reviewed the glorious 70-year tradition of the Vietnamese health sector. Promoting that tradition, the Hai Phong health sector has increasingly developed strongly and comprehensively. After more than 70 years of construction and development, Hai Phong's health network has grown remarkably in both quantity and quality. With the public health sector, the city currently has 9 city-level hospitals; 5 district, county and city general hospitals; 11 district, county and city health centers with beds; 4 district, county and city health centers without beds; 167 commune, ward and town health stations; 7 city-level specialized centers. In the non-public health system, the city has 11 hospitals, 28 general clinics, and 988 specialized clinics. The total number of hospital beds in the city is 9,661, reaching a rate of 45.9 hospital beds/10,000 people. With an increasingly complete and developed health system, Hai Phong is constantly improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, meeting the health care needs of the people, contributing to the overall development of the city.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Minh Quang, Director of the Department of Health, spoke to review the glorious 70-year tradition of the Vietnamese health sector.

2024 is the first year of implementing Resolution No. 10/2023/NQ-HDND of the City People's Council on Regulations on specific policies to support training and treatment of human resources in the health sector of Hai Phong city in the period of 2024-2030; and Decision No. 4668/QD-UBND of the City People's Committee on approving the Project to improve the capacity of the public health system of Hai Phong city by 2030. From here, it creates an important driving force, contributing to attracting, training and developing high-quality health human resources, improving the efficiency of the health system, better meeting the health care needs of the people of Hai Phong city. Along with the development of high-tech, specialized techniques on par with specialized, high-tech centers of the Central level, typically: Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital successfully performed 6 kidney transplants and Hai Phong Eye Hospital successfully transplanted corneas for 4 patients; Successfully performed many vascular and cerebral vascular interventions, with a high early intervention rate compared to the whole country.

In 2024, all health indicators will reach and exceed 13/13 of the set plans. Of which, 3 indicators will exceed the plan, including: the indicators on the number of hospital beds/10,000 people, the number of doctors/10,000 people and the rate of health stations meeting the National Criteria for Commune Health by 2030. These are important indicators to assess the quality of health activities, reflecting the health care service provision capacity of the health system and the level of meeting the health care needs of the city's people.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Le Tien Chau, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong City acknowledged, highly appreciated and congratulated the Hai Phong Health sector on its outstanding achievements in the past year. He affirmed that the City Party Committee is always united and determined to implement the policy: "Investment in social security and welfare goes ahead of economic development". Among them, health policies have become bright spots in the country. Such as the City promulgating and implementing the Project to Improve the Capacity of the Public Health System of Hai Phong City by 2030, including 6 groups of tasks, 9 groups of solutions with a total budget of nearly 5,600 billion VND, or issuing a Resolution on specific policies to support training and remuneration of human resources in the Hai Phong health sector for the period 2024 - 2030. The above policies, when promulgated, have created excitement and high consensus among cadres, medical staff and the people of the city.

Comrade Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, awarded the title "Excellent Doctor" to individuals.

In the context, Hai Phong is focusing on implementing General Secretary To Lam's directive on building a socialist model, associated with socialist people in Hai Phong City. The role of the health sector is particularly important in improving health, strengthening physical strength, stature, preventing diseases, increasing longevity and quality of life of the city's people.

The Secretary requested leaders, cadres and employees of the city's health sector to perform a number of key tasks. In particular, focusing on the task of taking care of people's health, community health, building a healthy and high-quality human resource to serve the development of the city; the city's health sector must pay special attention to preventive medicine; taking care of people's health from the root, starting from encouraging people to exercise regularly, improving the quality of physical education in schools; to controlling food, food hygiene, and nutritional regimens to prevent diseases against risks; disease prevention propaganda among the people, community health education so that people can prevent diseases themselves, and improve their ability to strengthen their own resistance.

Hai Phong Eye Hospital received the Emulation Flag from the Prime Minister for excellently and comprehensively completing its tasks, leading the patriotic emulation movement of Hai Phong city in 2023.

Along with that, the health sector focuses on implementing the Project to Improve the Capacity of the City's Public Health System to consolidate and improve the quality of the grassroots health system; Pay attention to training, fostering, and attracting a force of medical staff with expertise along with the regime and preferential policies for the medical staff currently working.

Comrade Le Minh Quang, Director of the Department of Health, received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for his many achievements in work, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

In addition, the Secretary of the City Party Committee also hopes that medical staff will follow the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh, which is "We must engage in suffering to reduce suffering. A good doctor must be like a mother." This is the guiding principle for every medical staff to constantly strive to improve, not only in expertise but also in professional ethics. So that every time we hear the name of a doctor, pharmacist or physician, and when we see the white coats, everyone must feel the image of knowledge, honor and noble personality. It must be a combination of intelligence and heart, a relentless dedication to bring faith, health and happiness to the community and the people.

Collectives and individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee

At the Conference, the City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee presented the Department of Health with a banner with the words "Reaching out for development for the cause of protecting and caring for the people's health". Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day. On this occasion, 10 individuals in the Hai Phong City Health sector received the title of "Excellent Doctor". The Director of the Department of Health personally received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister for his many achievements in work, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

04 units received the Emulation Flag of the City People's Committee

Recognizing the outstanding and typical results in performing professional tasks, on June 21, 2024, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 552/QD-TTg to award the Emulation Flag to Hai Phong Eye Hospital for its excellent and comprehensive completion of its tasks, leading the patriotic emulation movement of Hai Phong city in 2023.
07 collectives and 10 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee; 4 units received the Emulation Flag from the City People's Committee; 132 collectives received the title of Excellent Labor Collective from the Chairman of the City People's Committee; 3 individuals received the title of City-level Emulation Fighter and 60 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee; 7 collectives and 25 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Health for their outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Health sector 70 years following Uncle Ho's teachings"
